Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT GILLES TURENNE August 22, 1932 - July 24, 2017 After a short battle with cancer, Robert passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Robert, aged 84, leaves behind his son Léo (Katherine); his daughters Ginette (Sylvain), Julie (Rhéal) and Roselle (Michele); grandchildren Melanie (David), Christine (Léo), Stefan (Shauna), Jessica (Justin), Rhéanne, Daniel, Kaler and Amber; and six great-grandchildren. Robert was predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Alice (née Maynard); his daughter Louise; parents, Adélard and Florida Turenne; five sisters and seven brothers. Born and raised in St. Pierre-Jolys, Manitoba, he grew up on the family farm before moving to Winnipeg with the love of his life. Along with raising their family, he was an excellent athlete in his youth known for his prowess as a goaltender, gymnast and ping pong player. He enjoyed bowling, beer and visiting with friends and family. He was incredibly hard working as a plumber and pipefitter, completing any work task in record time. Robert took great pride in his children and grandchildren; he also was proud of designing and building his cottage in Saint Malo that the family enjoyed for over four decades. We would like to thank the compassionate nursing staff at St. Boniface Hospital and the kind-hearted team at Manoir de la Cathédrale. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Saint Malo Church, 5 Saint Malo Street, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
