MARGARET SAWATZKY PETERS (FROESE) Margaret Sawatzky Peters (Froese) passed away peacefully on July 20, 2017 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Margaret is survived by her husband of 67 years, David Froese, her daughter Lynnette Froese and her husband Rod Birch, as well as her cherished granddaughters Caryn and Allison (Eliya Ichihashi). Also left to remember her life are her siblings Dr. Paul Peters, Helen Loeppky (Bernie), Mary Fransen (Herb), Louise Friesen and Nettie Peters. Margaret is also remembered by her in-laws, John and Mary Froese, Elenor Froese, Mary Froese, Janet Froese, Kay Froese, George and Verna Froese, Margaret Kasak, and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her eldest daughter Connie in 1997, her parents Diedrich and Margareta (Sawatzky) Peters, and her siblings John and Pauline (in infancy). Margaret was also predeceased by her good friend and sister-in-law Dorothy (Schmidt) Peters. Margaret was born on June 17, 1926 in Blumenort, Manitoba. Much of her childhood years were spent growing up in the village of Gnadenthal, Manitoba surrounded by her grandparents, uncles and aunts, and many cousins. Margaret was a much loved teacher in Winnipeg and surrounding rural areas of Manitoba from 1944 to 1987. Margaret was active in music both performing and enjoying. Her trademark laugh, good sense of humour and engaging personality made it fun to be with Margaret always. At 91 years of age, she remained current, open minded and accepting of all. Margaret was ahead of her time and stood steadfastly to her beliefs for equality for women and peaceful resolutions for conflict. The family will hold a Respect for Margaret's Life Tea on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at the Heritage Centre, 475 Lindenwood Drive East, Winnipeg, MB. Private family interment. Flowers gratefully declined and donations may be made to MS Society, 1465 Buffalo Place, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3T 1L8.
