Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHANS HUGO HEYMANN 1928 - 2017 It is with great sadness the family of Hans Heymann announces his passing on July 29, 2017. Hans leaves to mourn his sons Karl (Susie), Gary (Sylvia) and Werner. He leaves seven grandchildren, Kirsten (Bryan) and Monika, Jasmine (Henry) and Maxine, and Erich (Jen), Alexis and Lauren; as well as five great-grandchildren, Emily and Hailey, Sophie, Lily and Ivan to cherish his memory. Also to mourn are his sisters Mariechen and Christel, and sister-in-law Doris (Marcel), as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and many other family members and friends. Hans was predeceased by his wife Erdmunde, his parents Emil and Helene, his brothers Willi and Erich, and his sister Irmgard. Hans was born in Grocholin, Poland on January 4, 1928. He had many stories to tell us of his experiences with his friends and family on the farm and in school. He always wanted to be a forester (ranger) but the war interrupted his plans. Much of his personality was a result of his army training as a youth. Discipline, planning and leadership became second nature to him and would help him in his future business relationships. In December of 1949, Hans immigrated to Canada. On the ship he met his future wife, Munde and her family. On July 7, 1951 he married Munde and together they raised three sons. In 1951 he also started a very successful construction company which is still operating in its 66th year. Hans was extremely intelligent, driven and well respected by his peers. At the office he would always emphasize "quality of workmanship, production, and safety." While he had a very efficient way of managing his business, he was also very compassionate and charismatic, making many business partners and friends. It was his nature to help others whenever the opportunity arose. Family was very important to Hans. Every weekend in the summer was spent at their cottage at Hillside Beach with family and friends. There were many people involved in the purchase and development of Bergey Lane but Hans was the driving force behind making it happen and this is where four generations of family still gather. Hans's idea of a perfect day was being out at the lake, spending the morning picking blueberries and mushrooms, gardening, then heading to the beach in the afternoon for swimming and spending time with friends and family. Hans loved hosting big parties where everyone enjoyed great food and lots of socializing. Hans and Munde loved to travel, spending many years in Florida, while also travelling to many other world-wide destinations. They would often invite family and friends to join them. Their inclusiveness and generosity was always greatly appreciated. After losing his beloved Munde in April of 2016, Hans decided to move to Comox, BC. He spent his remaining days on Vancouver Island. Hans especially enjoyed going for walks and always commented on how beautiful all the flowers are. Hans always looked forward to having family members visit him in Comox. He was especially proud to introduce his grandchildren and great-grandchildren to the people in his retirement home. Hans's determination and strong personality influenced everyone who was fortunate enough to befriend him or be part of his family. Hans will remain in our hearts and will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank the staff at Berwick, the ER and ICU at St. Joseph's Hospital in Comox, BC, and the caring staff at Hospice at The Views for their professionalism and compassion. Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Abundant Life Lutheran Church, 3486 Raleigh Street, East St. Paul, MB (off Hoddinott Road). Interment will follow at Glen Eden Cemetery, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB. Reception to follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Lutheran World Relief or a charity of your choice. I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of Hans. I miss him coming in to the office (to usually give David a hard time lol) and always taking the time to smile at me and call me his sweetheart ("but don't tell Munde"). He was a lovely man who will be missed by many. I will always consider him my friend. My deepest condolences to all his family. - Posted by: Cheryl Gluck (Friend) on: Aug 02, 2017
