With deep sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Shirley Tillett on Saturday, August 12, 2017. She left us peacefully while in palliative care with her sister by her side. Many condolences to the family, especially to her sister Louise Machinski. Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Mike and Elizabeth Machinski and will be sadly missed by many uncles, aunties, and cousins, The Sisler girls, friends and business associates. Shirley grew up in the heart of Selkirk Manitoba and later flourished as a business leader in Winnipeg founding, Shirley Tillett & Associates, (STA) the Event Professionals of Manitoba Association, (EPM) and the nationally recognized Event Certification Curriculum and facilitator for Manitoba Tourism and Education Council (MTEC). Her spirit was fierce and her drive was never matched. This is her legacy and she will be truly missed. We love you Shirley. A service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 17 at The Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, MB. Interment to follow at the Notre Dame Cemetery. A celebration of her life will then take place at 2:00 p.m. on August 17 at The Metropolitan Entertainment Centre, 281 Donald Street Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shirley Tillett Scholarship Fund for Event Professionals.

Shirley and I started out as business associates............we quickly became friends. I quickly learned how much honesty and integrity one person could possess while at the same time how much compassion one person could have. She was witty, ambitious, and brilliant. she was my "go-to adult". I will miss her with all my heart. All my love Louise - I know you know that she will be your angel. - Posted by: Joy and Ted Asham (Friends) on: Aug 15, 2017
