WAYNE HAMEL Following a difficult illness, Wayne Hamel died peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital on Friday, August 11, 2017. He was predeceased by his parents, Donat and Marie Hamel and his first wife Janet Keir. Wayne is survived by his wife Annette; his daughters, Dawn and Terry (Sutton); his sister Marlene and husband Terry Rooney; his brother Don and wife Gertie and three Tencha step-children: James, Joel and Kim. He also leaves two step-grandchildren, Noah Tencha and Jada Beaulieu. Wayne was born and raised in Winnipeg. He attended Holy Cross and Provencher Schools. As a teen, he was part of the Air Cadets, which he enjoyed! Later he joined the Air Force where he proudly attained his pilot licence. Wayne worked in the radar department at the Winnipeg airport. He acted as a Radar Technician for the federal government in the Transport Division for more than 40 years. Among other agreeable hobbies, Wayne became an avid member of "Toastmasters International." This experience served him well as a "Reader" in the church. He was asked to train younger readers to proclaim the word of God. It is safe to say that he loved all sports. He also enjoyed all kinds of music. He loved travelling, camping and visiting family and friends. Wayne was a devout Christian. He volunteered his services for 17 years at Tache Nursing Home (Action Marguerite.) He loved the Church, his family and his place in the universe. Yet, at the end of his journey, he felt he would be going to a better place. As a father and husband, he was a loving, caring man who shared his life with his grateful family who returned that love in kind. He will be missed! The Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Cross Church, 252 Dubuc Street, in St. Boniface, at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2017, with Bishop Noel Delaquis presiding. Courage. Claire Chénier - Posted by: Claire Chénier (Friends) on: Aug 15, 2017
