I met Eleanor late one night in emergency. I was delirious with infection, she was pulling a double in ER. She figured out that my illness was the result of a coral scratch I had some 3 weeks earlier while travelling. She saved my life. In the following week on her ward we became friends. Thank you Eleanor, for your skill and 'light'. - Posted by: Jamie McLennan (Patient) on: Feb 06, 2018

I worked with Eleanor in the early part of her career. Eleanor was passionate and knew who she was and what she stood for. I am reminded of the quote from Mahatma Gandhi: "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." Eleanor had an innate gift of unconditional compassion and a relentless determination to alleviate her patients suffering. She advocated and provided strength to her patients and their families. You could always trust Eleanor to do the right thing. She stood up for her colleagues, she cared for everyone. I loved working with Eleanor - she was always so much fun, charismatic and bright. In those early days she would beam with pride when she spoke of her son Jai. I can just imagine what a wonderful grandmother she became. My heart breaks for Carlee and Katelynn. “Grandmas hold our hands for just a little while but our hearts forever.” - Posted by: Carol Pollock (Former co worker and friend) on: Aug 19, 2017

I remember Eleanor hanging out with my sister Marlene when we were kids. They shared alot of laugher and giggles in their younger years. One time that stands out in particular was the two of them dancing and singing to "Jeremiah was a bullfrog". I can still picture them laughing together! I also recall making candles at Eleanor's home with her mom as a young child. My sister continued her friendship with Eleanor over the years and I was honored to see Eleanor at many gatherings. Our heartfult sympathy to Jai and the family at this very sad time. Louise & Lorne (Lavallee) - Posted by: Louise Shupenia (Neighbor (friend) growing up) on: Aug 18, 2017

Eleanor was a very hard working person, we were very proud of her when she completed her registered nursing degree to provide a good life for Jai and herself. Eleanor loved to travel, we went on some short and long trips together. I will cherish all the phone calls, visits, birthday celebrations, dinner get togethers along with a variety of other celebrations over the years with friends gathered together at our home or at Eleanor’s sharing several stories, crying together along with lots of laughter. Our heart goes out to Jai, Monica, Carlee and Katelynn and Eleanor’s siblings and family and all her friends during this difficult time. Rest in Peace my friend. - Posted by: Marlene Boblinski and Dennis Boblinski (Friend since Grade 1) on: Aug 17, 2017

I still can't believe it. My sister and best friend. We used to play when we were kids in the snow. Skating on the pond. Of course as sisters we had our moments. She had a heart of gold. She loved her family. Her son and grandchildren were dear to her heart as well as our mother who passed over in November. We took that very hard. Well Eleanor, I am going to really miss you. A huge piece will be missing in my life now. I love you always and forever. - Posted by: Bonnie Chomiak (Sister) on: Aug 17, 2017

I was shocked to hear of Eleanor's passing. We met many years ago when she came on board at Selkirk General as a new grad and I had the pleasure of being her mentor. She was a bright light and absorbed knowledge like a sponge. We became friends and I always had such fun with her and the "crew", laughing and getting silly. She was a great nurse, always caring and doing whatever she could for her patients. I'll miss her and will always have our memories. My condolences to Jai and his family. - Posted by: Daria Fedyshyn (Former co-worker and friend) on: Aug 17, 2017

My first introduction to this wonderful lady occurred many years ago when our daughter babysat for Jai and thus began a professional relationship that lasted for 20 years. Eleanor belonged to a special group, in my mind, where her patient's care came first and foremost before all else. I consider it a great honor and privilege to have shared my time at S&DGH with such a committed nurse. Eleanor, you touched the lives of many people during your time on this earth and as Helpers of Others, that is the greatest reward we can expect. God Bless you and help your family through this trying time. Rick. (Pharmacy) - Posted by: Rick Dolenuck (Friend and co-worker) on: Aug 17, 2017

Eleanor will truly be missed by so many of us. All the great times we spent together singing, laughing and sharing good times. I will always remember us sitting around the table and talking for hours about so many different things, because Eleanor was always interested in so much. We cried together, we laughed together and it was all so good because we loved each other. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family as you go through this very difficult time. - Posted by: Doris Koop (Friend) on: Aug 17, 2017
