LINDA LOUISE PARKER August 13, 1962 - August 19, 2017 Surrounded by family, Linda Parker passed peacefully at home on Saturday, August 19, 2017. Linda was predeceased by her parents Beverly and Hugh Parker, and her brothers Casey, Ian, Ben and Bruce. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Raffaele; children Claire (Austin) and Joseph; sisters Wendy and Shirley (Ernie), brother Brian, and sisters-in-law Cathy (Murray) and Jacquie. She will also be missed by her nieces Rebecca, Bryce, Keira, Jessica, Lindsay and Jackie (Craig); and nephews Beau (Brandi), Cameron, Josh (Maria), James, Theo, George, Dimitri and Tayva, along with great-nieces Maggie, Nico, Clara and Emma. Also mourning her loss is her soul sister and best friend of 35 years, Susan Lowery, as well as many other close friends. Linda was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. As the youngest of eight siblings, she learned to find her voice at an early age. Her passion and love for all things creative began when she was a child and continued on well into her last days. She had a thirst for adventure that could only be quenched by travelling to many amazing places. She reflected on her travelling days often and loved to share stories of the many sights she saw and people she met along the way. Linnie created a wonderful life with her Raff, Claire and Joe, and their two dogs Abbey and Trixie. The family took many road-trips and loved camping, fishing and going to the lake. We will lovingly remember her ability to make any activity, no matter how small, the most exciting through her vivacious spirit. After her family and friends, the most important part of Linda's life was her career as an elementary school teacher in Winnipeg's inner-city. Those that knew Ms. Parker knew that she lovingly referred to her students as her kids and loved them like they were her own. She worked tirelessly to ensure that her kids felt treasured every time they walked through the classroom doors. The family would like to thank the team that took care of our Linnie over the last couple of months. A special thank-you goes to Dr. Susan Robillard and the W.R.H.A. Palliative Care Program that took the greatest care of our whole family, with an extra special thanks to nurse Lisa. A celebration of Linnie's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 28, 2017 at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to W.R.H.A. Palliative Care Donation Fund, c/o Health Sciences Centre Foundation located at PW112-700 William Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0Z3. Condolences & Memories (18 entries)

  • Although we never met Linda, we both worked with Raf and he is one of the most positive kind people we have worked with. We both were very saddened and had heavy hearts to find out about Linda's passing. Knowing Raf the way we do and reading Linda's tribute, we can only imagine how beautiful she was and how many lives she touched. Our prayers go out to Raf and his family. - Posted by: Marc and Minette (co-workers of Raf) on: Dec 15, 2017

  • My condolences to all of Linda's family, especially Raff and the kids. I would be walking by in the neighborhood with my dog Roscoe and if Linda was out and about would always greet us with a beautiful smile and a gracious "hello". She will be sadly missed by all in the neighborhood all who knew her. - Posted by: David Naumko (friend / neighbor) on: Sep 08, 2017

  • This lovely person gave my son a precious gift just weeks before he passed away. She validated him as an artist by buying his painting at Art Battle 2015. Then she reached out to me to give me comfort when Reid passed away. She offered to give me his painting and then shared her experience of meeting my son. It was such a decent gesture and indeed I will never forget her. I deeply regret not having met her personally but I do know that the world shall miss her. Perhaps she will meet up with Reid in the spiritual world they exist in now. My sympathies to her family and friends - Posted by: Bonnie Bricker (Mental health advocate ) on: Aug 29, 2017

  • It is with sadness that we are sending along our heartfelt condolences. Linda really was a special lady, although we haven't seen each other as much as we would have liked since we moved out of Winnipeg, we kept in touch. We are thinking of your family at this very hard time and send our love. - Posted by: Tannis & Dennis Drobot (Friends) on: Aug 26, 2017

  • It is difficult to imagine a world without Linda Parker. Linda was 5 years old when Bruce & l were married. I can still see Linda & Shirley sitting on the steps of the Hotel Fort Garry wearing sombreros (a humorous moment devised by their Dad Hugh Parker). Our experiences with Linda were many including trips to Nassau, Bahamas and several trips to Mexico where she cared for her nieces Lindsay & Jessica with utmost diligence. There was one night where she joined a group of new friends (Lin always made friends wherever she went) at the famous Junkanoo Festival in Nassau, an all night street dance costume parade. Linda was the "rock" of the Parker family taking on this role from her brother Bruce after he passed away. Her love & support for her family members was steadfast. Linda & l worked together for the past years to honour & respect the final wishes of her brother Bruce and were still in the process of completing this effort when she became ill. It was a difficult role that we both embraced. As difficult as the task was, Linda persevered with a resilient attitude to get the job done overcoming many "bumps in the road". She can rest knowing it was a job well done! My sincere sympathies go out to Raf, Claire, Joe, Wendy, Brian, Shirley and all members of the Aiello & Parker families. I will miss her. With profound sadness and affection, Cindy Parker - Posted by: Cindy Parker (Mother of her nieces Lindsay & Jessica ) on: Aug 26, 2017

  • I'm so very sorry to hear the news about Linda. We were friends at Gordon Bell, where Shirley and I were classmates. Linda and I became Facebook friends a few years ago, and I always looked forward to reading her posts and her comments on mine. Wherever she was, Linda's smile always lit up the room. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched. My most sincere condolences to Linda's family. - Posted by: Jennifer Ellis (Friend) on: Aug 24, 2017

  • It is with our deepest sympathies to hear of the passing of a loving wife and mother. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your Family. - Posted by: Darren and Kathy Ryback (Friend/Co-Workers) on: Aug 24, 2017

  • The true essence of a beautiful soul is thinking of others selflessly. That was/is Linda. I was so honoured to spend a few treasured hours with her and hear her how proud she and Raf are of their children. They are blessed to have had the perfect mother. I know they will continue to make her proud. Her dimples and that effervescent joy she shared with everyone, will forever be indelible on my heart. God Speed Linda, into that joyful speed of light and love. - Posted by: Candis Militere (Friend ) on: Aug 24, 2017

  • Dear Ralph, Claire and Joey, I am so sorry for your loss. Linda was a kind and genuine person and a gifted teacher to so many children. She was my student teacher many years ago at Luxton School and I remember many talks and laughs together. I just knew she 'got it' and that she would become an amazing teacher. I was happy to reconnect with her many times since then. Just this spring my daughter Heather was invited to work in her classroom and I joined her for one of the days. What a vibrant environment she had created for her students. Linda will be remembered by so many. I know that you have many people around you for love and support. Please know you are in our thoughts during this difficult time. Andrea, Tim, Heather and family. - Posted by: Andrea Bell Stuart (friend ) on: Aug 24, 2017

  • We first met Linda when she was about 16 and the most beautiful girl in Winnipeg, inside and out. Our family fell in love with her then and forever, and will always remember her irrepressible sense of humour, her generous spirit and her kind heart. Our hearts go out to her family -- in particular to Ralph and Claire and Joe, but also Tayva, Kira, Bryce and Shirley. We are so sorry. - Posted by: Margo Goodhand (Friend) on: Aug 23, 2017

  • So sorry to hear the news about Linda. It's been many years since I last spoke to her but just like the others we could become great friends again in a minute. Her infectious smile made you like her even if you didn't know her. Regards to all her family and to Ralph. Looking forward to the stories to be told next week. She will be missed. - Posted by: Ed Swart (Friend ) on: Aug 23, 2017

  • I struggle to find words to properly express my deep sadness and wish to comfort Linda's closest family, Ralph, Claire and Joe. Linda was a vibrant and wonderful person. Despite our long absences from each others' lives we could always pick up as if no time had passed! Most recently, I ran into Linda at Winners and she helped me pick out clothes for my daughters grade 8 grad! No one had better taste than Linda. Of course we got into trying on stuff and laughed heartily at ourselves. We had such fun! Linda had a style all her own....and will be so missed by those who loved her. - Posted by: Nancy Macdonald (Friend) on: Aug 23, 2017

  • My deepest sympathies to all the family. May loving memories ease your loss and bring you comfort. - Posted by: Sharon Halley () on: Aug 22, 2017

  • Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time Ralph, commari Paulina, compari Carmelo and family. We did not know Linda very well but we do remember her positive attitude and love for life. We really believe that you will all be reunited someday. God bless Tom and Maria Masi. - Posted by: Tom and Maria Masi (Friends) on: Aug 22, 2017

  • It is with heavy hearts that we give our deepest condolences to Linda's family. Ralph, Clare and Joey, I cannot even begin to imagine what you have been going through, but take comfort that your mom is no longer suffering and she is at peace. Linda left a legacy of what a human should be. Always loving, always laughing and always looking for the positive things in life no matter what card she was dealt with. She said she was surrounded by love which made her very happy and she left knowing her family would be looked after. Take comfort in this as Linda will always be with you guiding through life no matter what you have to deal with. Love you all and we are here for you always, Sina and Cesare, Jennifer and Hart, Ashleigh and Dimitri - Posted by: Sina and Cesare Sacco (cousins) on: Aug 22, 2017
