Bob was predeceased by his mother Goldie, his siblings Grace, Gordon, Rodina, Walter, Gwendolyn, Winnifred, Irene, and his granddaughters Allyson and Ashley Bruce. Bob was born in Winnipeg on October 20, 1926, growing up in Sturgeon Creek and resided in St. James the rest of his long and rewarding life. He attended Bannatyne and then Linwood School until he joined the work force to help support his family. He excelled at sports, playing hockey, baseball, curling and played golf well into his senior years. On June 16, 1953, Bob married the love of his life Annie Lou Sim, his focus in life changed to supporting his young family. He was employed by Andrews Lumber, Westeel, Mount Royal Esso for his brother Wally and retired from Bristol Aerospace in 1988. Bob was a painter by trade, but could fix anything. He loved to sing and cut a rug on many dance floors. He enjoyed playing cards and travelling on bus trips to watch the Blue Jays. Dad's most treasured moments were those spent with his family. He never missed an opportunity to get together for a meal or just to chat. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our family and friends who have offered support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Bob to the Cerebral Palsy Association of Manitoba or Turning Leaf Community Support Services Incorporated. I am so sad to hear of the passing of "Mr. Payne". The Payne's were my neighbours and babysitters when I was a young boy growing up on Inglewood St. They always took such great care of me, often treating me like an extension of their family. I have fond memories of helping Mr. Payne mow the lawn with my Fisher-Price Bubble-Maker Mower and insisting emphatically that I had done that spot when he would roll over areas I thought were done. Thank you Mr. Payne, for opening up your door and your heart to my family at a time when it was truly appreciated. - Posted by: Tim Nachtigall () on: Aug 29, 2017

I saw Bob at West Park Manor while he visiting his wife and I was visiting my husband. He was such a devoted husband visiting every day. I played the piano there for the residents and he used to like to listen to all the old songs, sometimes with tears in his eyes. He told me the music brought back memories of days gone by when he and his wife would dance. He had a very nice voice and was a very nice man. I shall miss seeing him sitting their on his favourite chair in the main area. - Posted by: Barbara Nichols (nee Smith) (Friend) on: Aug 26, 2017
