Date of Passing: Jul 15, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNADIA (NADJA) GAMBLE (nee KOWALYK) August 24, 1930 - July 15, 2017 It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of Nadia Gamble on Saturday, July 15, 2017, aged 86, peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Debra (Jeff) Ferguson, Denis, D'Arcy and Don (Nancy); her brothers, Peter (Jan) Kowalyk and Alfie (Shirley) Kowalyk, as well as many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Nadj was blessed with a large family and sadly was predeceased by numerous relatives. Nadj was born in Ozerna, Manitoba and later settled in Winnipeg with her family. She graduated from St. John's High, where she made lifelong friendships. After meeting Chuck at a dance at Winnipeg Beach, they married in 1952 and they had four children together. Nadj was a dedicated, hard worker, and held several jobs over the years. She was a hostess at the Dakota Hotel and the International Inn. Later Nadj was employed at Domcor Inc., retiring in 1999, after 25 years of service. She made many friends throughout those years. Always liking to keep busy, in retirement Nadj worked as a food sample demonstrator, giving her the opportunity to get out and meet people. She also loved playing bingo, working in her yard and visiting family and friends for coffee. She was thrilled to have the opportunity to go to Belgium to attend Don and Nancy's wedding and a chance to see the amazing scenery. She was very devoted, and cherished all of her friendships. Family was the most important thing to Nadj, she was very proud of, and dedicated to her children, always there when they needed her, always attending their sporting events and Christmas concerts. She was always willing to help a relative in need and loved seeing family, always attending get-togethers for any occasions, big or small. Nadj loved hosting holiday dinners, featuring her delicious cabbage rolls and pies, loving the cooking and the chance to visit with family and friends. Even as her physical heal declined in the last two years, her mind was sharp, sense of humour still present, and did as much as possible to keep active. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for all their excellent and compassionate care during many stays in hospital. A celebration of Nadj's life will take place Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477, Main Street, West St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Nadj's name be sent to the charity of your choice. You were loved, and you will be missed. Darcy & Family, my thoughts & prayers are with you & your family at this very difficult time. So very sorry to hear of you loss of your mom. She was always someone I was truly very fond of and always enjoyed our family gatherings. She always had a way of making me laugh, even when she was very ill she found humor and shared it with me. Your Mom was genuinely a one of a kind, someone you could respect for her true grit and sincere honesty. You always knew where you stood with your mom & that is what I will truly miss about her. Beautiful picture of your mom and that is the way I will always remember her with that amazing smile. She will be missed by so many that she touched. - Posted by: Judy Cannon (Family Friend) on: Sep 08, 2017
