Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLLOYD D. DAVIES 1926 - 2017 Lloyd Davies, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed peacefully away at the age of 90, at Victoria Hospital, on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 3:15 p.m. He was predeceased by his parents, his loving wife and best friend, Susan Davies, and four siblings. Left to cherish Lloyd's memory is his loving daughter Sharolyn Faye and her husband Len Van Beveren of East Selkirk, grandson Lloyd, his wife Robyn, and two great-grandchildren Xavier and Lexi; his son Robert Lloyd Davies and his wife Cheryl of Thompson, Manitoba, and two granddaughters Suzanne and Katherine. Lloyd was born September 24, 1926 in a small farmhouse in Newdale, MB, the second youngest son of David Sylvester Davies and Gertrude Ellen (Nellie) Davies (nee Welbourne). He graduated from Winnipeg Bible Institute in 1950 and was married April 14, 1951. Lloyd and Susan were named Alumnus of the Year for Providence College and Seminary in 2003. Lloyd maintained the family farm in Newdale, Manitoba through the war. He then repaired Cadillacs at Dickson Motors for three years, before becoming a flexographic pressman at Bonar and Bemis in Winnipeg. Dad ended his career as a supervisor in charge of pre-press, press, warehouses, shipping and receiving. Dad was a faithful servant and supporter of Providence College, Gimli Bible Camp, One Hope Canada, Cub Scouts, and was a charter board member of Bethesda Church. Lloyd was always the first to volunteer to drive people to and from church. Dad enjoyed jig-saw puzzles, home renovations, painting, and car maintenance; and was never without a toolbox in his car. Most of all, Lloyd cherished his family and grandchildren, taking the time to phone and visit with them as much as he could, including many visits to Thompson. We wish to thank the doctors and nurses who tended to Lloyd during his life and especially those at Victoria Hospital who cared for him at the end; especially Dr. Pacin and his team on floor four. Many thanks go to those who visited Lloyd in the hospital. Viewing will be Thursday, September 7 at Glen Eden Funeral Home State Room starting at 10:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Glen Eden Cemetery, 4477 Main St. North for those who wish to attend. A memorial service has been arranged for Thursday, September 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethesda Church, 1350 Grant Avenue, Winnipeg. Following the memorial service, there will be a reception in the lower auditorium. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Gimli Bible Camp, Box 1579, Gimli, MB R0C 1B0.
