PAULINE (POLLY) ANNE STRAUSS (WYSHYHORA) Sadly at the age of 77, Mom passed away at the Stonewall Hospital, on September 5, 2017. Mom was born June 26, 1940 to Anne and Michael Wyshyhora. She along with her family lived on a farm in the Arborg area. In her late teens, Mom left school and moved into the city with her older sister Mary. While in the city, Mom met and married Edward Strauss. Together, they had five children. For a short time, they lived in the Stony Mountain area before moving into Stonewall where she lived until falling ill. Mom held several jobs and always worked hard all her life. She loved to cook and bake for her family. She would spend entire days making perogies, cabbage rolls and borscht just so we could enjoy them. She always felt that she needed to work on her recipes tweaking the recipe just a bit because she wanted to make them perfect, they were. Mom loved family get-togethers especially at Christmas time. She always had a small gift for everyone no matter what. In Mom's earlier years, she loved to go dancing with her friends, Gordie and Audrey. Her love for the accordion was apparent as she would play (by ear) some of her favourite polka songs on any given Saturday night. Mom learned to drive in her later years. Some of her favourite pastime things to do was to put the pedal to the metal and drive to the Polo Park area, where she would spend hours shopping and checking out sales in the mall. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Len (Tracy), Terry (Edward), Jeff, Michelle (Curtis); grandchildren, Devon, Kayleigh, Alissa, Bradley; sister Angela; nephew Jack; niece Judy; fur-grandbabies, Charlie, Misha and extended family. Mom is predeceased by her son Larry; parents, Michael and Anne; sister Mary; brothers, Bob, Mike and Steve. The family would like to thank Dr. Venter and staff at the Stonewall Hospital for Mom's care during her short stay. Prayers will be held on Monday, September 11 at 7:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 433 Main St., Stonewall. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 12 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ the King Church, 315 2nd St. E., Stonewall; private interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home Stonewall 204-467-2525 info@mackenziefh.com
