Date of Passing: Sep 18, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLOIS ELAINE RANKIN (nee WALDIE) 1934 - 2017 It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Lois Rankin, beloved mother, daughter, sister, wife, grandmother, on Monday, September 18, 2017 at the age of 82. Lois was predeceased by her husband, John Rankin, October 16, 2011. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Jim (Barb), Ron (Mae), Diana (Barrie) Budd, Rob and Dave; her grandchildren who she held close to her heart, Janet (Ory), Sarah, Chris, Darris (Lynne), Mandie (Steph), Vanessa (Dave), Taren, Tori, Erica, Rowyn, and great-grandchildren Charlie, Declan, Brayden, Cole and Zoey. She also leaves behind her brother Brian (Darlene), sister-in-law Eileen Waldie, and brother-in-law Ken McKenzie. She was predeceased by her parents Jim and Aileen Waldie, brother Stewart Waldie, sister Betty (Morris) Edkins, and sister Carol McKenzie. Lois had a career in nursing, after her training she was posted at Killarney Hospital where she was talked into going on a blind date, which turned into her meeting the love of her life John and a new chapter began. Lois took a leave of absence from nursing to raise her family. In 1966 when her children were all in school she decided it was time to return to the working field. After taking a refresher course in Morden she took a full time position at Notre Dame Foyer where she was employed until her retirement. Mom's devotion to our family was boundless. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren passionately. She was a devoted wife to John. She was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother who loved life, a good joke, a laugh and always a hug. As difficult as it is to let go, we know your suffering has ended, and you're back dancing with Dad. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Carman United Church. Interment will take place in the Altamont Cemetery. Doyle's Funeral Home, Carman in care of arrangements. www.doylesfuneralhome.ca
