KEITH ELLIOTT CORY It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Keith Elliott Cory, our much loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend on September 14, 2017. Born May, 8, 1928 in the RM of Oakland MB, Keith grew up on the family farm "Sunnybrook" in Nesbitt, MB. Early education was received in Nesbitt and Wawanesa Schools. He went on to complete his BA and earn the CMA (CPA) designation at the U of W during evening classes while working. Keith was employed as Manager of Administration for KA Powell Can Ltd. and XCan Grain Co. Ltd. until he retired in 1988. In 1947, he met his soul mate and love of his life, June Colley. They married on August 11, 1951 at the St. Thomas Anglican Church and have been married for over 66 years. "A Man for All Seasons," Keith loved the arts opera, ballet, symphony. He enjoyed reading, gardening and golf (former member of the Assiniboine Golf Club). He was a half marathon runner until the age of 81, with his twin brother Colin and a master swimmer. He was always so proud he was among the first members of the Manitoba Masters Aquatic Swim Club and that he was their first treasurer. Keith was treasurer of the St. Thomas Anglican Church for 13 years and served in many other offices, earning his lifelong honorary vestryman certificate in 2002 after 50 years of service. From 1963 until 1991, Keith was a volunteer, visiting two nursing homes, helping his wife June visit her brother and mother while he spent time visiting and talking to the other patients. Retirement winters were spent travelling to Palm Springs or Florida with June and his siblings. He also enjoyed going on cruises. In 1961 Keith (with help) built the family five bedroom lakefront cottage at Lester Beach (Belair), MB. Many happy summers were spent there and continue today for all his family. The greatest joys of Keith's life were his two daughters, Laurel and Michelle; son Christopher; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Ethbert and Eva (Fowler) Cory; brothers, Lyall (Frances), Lorne, Howard (Winifred), Don (Thelma), Henry (Lucy); sisters, Helen (Richmond) Elliott, June Moffatt, Jean (Don) Fallis, Eleanor, Jessie (Lloyd) Willett and sister-in-law Marjorie Cory. He is survived by his wife June; daughters, Laurel (Coleman) Robinson, Michelle (Bob) Wedlake; son Christopher; grandchildren, Lawrence (Maria), Courteney (Ernie), Meredith, Matthew (Grace), Mackenzie (Chelsea), Kyle, Jordyn, Joshua; great-grandchildren, Xander, Sterling, Daisy, Erika; brothers, James (Jean), Colin (Merle); brother-in-law Rev. Ken Moffatt and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, cards and visits and express their heartfelt appreciation to Rev. Colin MacIver, Dr. Chung, the nurses and staff on the 12th floor at Parkview Place for their wonderful care and compassion. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2017 at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave., Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Thomas Anglican Church "Creative Kids" 1567 William Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 1A7 or to a charity of your choice.
