John was born on May 30, 1921, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Richard and Betsy King, and grew up in the house he resided in for over 90 years. He was very proud of his sons and grandchildrens accomplishments in sports and attended all of their sporting events as their biggest fan. He especially enjoyed the hockey road trips and the partying that went along with it. The family would like to send a special thanks to Dr. Mihalchuk for years of care, and the N3East staff at Concordia Hospital. • Pauline and I are sorry to here of Mr. King's (John's) passing. There are so many fond memories that I can recall growing up across the street from him in Elmwood. His volunteer work at Kelvin C.C., his coaching and mentoring the youngsters, or just being a big fan on the side lines. He'd think nothing of removing his mitts and rubbing your half frozen feet at 40 below while you played hockey on the outdoor rink. He would pile our whole baseball team into his little Morris Miny. He always was there to give you advice or help you with your equipment. His sense of humour was incredible, his laugh infectious, his smile contagious. He could light up a room with a laugh or a few words of humour. I have known him 60 years, never saw him angry, never saw him not greet you with a smile or a say a few kind words, A very, very special individual. Our Peacey family offers our deepest condolences to the entire King family. Our prayers are with you. - Posted by: Larry Peacey (Friend of the family) on: Sep 23, 2017

  • To Mrs. King, John, Linda, Chuck, and the all grandchildren and great grandchildren. Our deepest condolences to you all! From a little boy who lived across the lane, having many great memories of Mr. King, always being very kind to me is something that I never will forget. The many times we would see each other at the Jet games, either I would get a a ride home, or to the game is something I will cherish forever. In the later years we would go to visit Mr. and Mrs. King with our son Taylor and talk about hockey. To see his blue eyes light up with a twinkle always made me smile. To see him stroll the neighbourhood was a pleasure to bump into him for a chat that seemed to never end (smiling)! He touched all our lives and will always be missed. Thank you for your amazing friendship, kindness, and love. - Posted by: Carlisle and Jolene Settee (Family friends ) on: Sep 19, 2017
