ANITA LOIS MARTIN (LEGRANGE) It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Anita Lois Martin (Legrange) on July 31, 2017. Lois was born on March 22, 1948 in Killarney, Manitoba. She began her life on a family farm. Her mother Betty, died when Lois was almost three years old and Lois went to live with her aunt Grace in Swan River until her dad remarried and she moved to Winnipeg. Lois attended Isaac Brock and Daniel McIntyre schools. She went on to take hairdressing and opened her own salon. She moved on to work for Canada Customs and Revenue for over 30 years until her retirement. Lois met the love of her life, Johnney, through their involvement with Alcoholics Anonymous and continued to be active for many years with the program, as sponsors and active weekly members. Together they purchased acreage near Selkirk, MB. Lois was particularly proud of her flower garden and she loved her cats. In 2015, Lois moved into the city to be closer to family. We would like to express our appreciation and thanks to the staff at Concordia Village One, Shawn her driver, the homecare staff from the River East office, Lyla her housekeeper and her niece Kristen for all their caring and compassion. Lois was predeceased by her best friend and husband Johnney October 5, 2010; her parents, Betty and Bill Legrange; brother Bob Legrange; stepmother Mabel and stepbrother Thor. She leaves to mourn her passing her sister Beverley Heron; her brother Larry Legrange and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will take place at Glen Eden Funeral Home on October 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenedenmemorial.ca Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery 204-338-7111

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I am so shocked to hear about Lois. Our mutual friend Dave who lived on Dominion St. at the time sent me her obituary. Every year when I returned to Winnipeg to visit, I tried to find Lois. I visited her with Denis, when she was on her own and when she was with Johnney. Unfortunately I eventually was unable to find her; she had moved to Selkirk. I tried to find her there but was unsuccessful. I knew her dad and step mom when they lived on Clifton and her cousin Herbie. Lois and I both loved cats. We used to give each other Cat Exams to see who knew more about our beloved felines. I am just so sorry we couldn't have connected all those years. I would love to hear from her family just to say Hello, I knew Lois. Marg ( Kay ) Hopcraft Jan 23/18 - Posted by: Margaret Kay hopcraft (best friend at Isaac Brock circa 1962) on: Jan 23, 2018
