Edith was born on October 2, 1919 in Green Bay, MB to parents Mathilda (nee Bachman) and Edward Kaletzke. She married Willard Zechel on November 4, 1939 and they were blessed with five children. Edith was a caring and generous person and she made everyone feel like family. She was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church. She was known for her volunteer work. Thank you to the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit and Pastor Bruce Gelhorn for your care and compassion. "We will miss you so much Mom/Grandma. Thank you for all the life lessons, helping us to be who we are, for loving us, and for being you. You no longer have to worry about and look after everyone else. You can now rest in peace." Grandma Edith was the most amazing person I’ve ever met, I miss her everyday and my heart still hurts every time I remember she’s gone. We had such a close and special relationship and I wish my kids were able to know her. When I was sick as a kid I would stay at her and grandpa Willard’s apartment, we’d watch the price is right and she would get me kinder surprise eggs, we talked every week on the phone and whenever we went out for meals she would always sneak off to pay the bill. I miss her beautiful spirit more than words can express. Love you so much grandma! I wish so much that I could hug you again - Posted by: Angie (Granddaughter ) on: Aug 01, 2024

Auntie Edith was a special lady with amazing spunk and a great sense of humour. She always seemed to be upbeat and tried looking on the bright side of life. She lived life to the fullest. I will miss her visits out to Beausejour. Hoping the good and happy memories of your mom and grandmother will help you through your days ahead. - Posted by: Tannis Recksiedler (niece) on: Sep 30, 2017
