Although it's been six weeks, we live our lives in a social media that doesn't offen include the notices of births and deaths. Tonight through family we find that one of our most influential men of the cloth has passed. Monsignor Perron was the rock of a faith that has been tested over time in the Catholic Church. I was proud to have my children in his presence as they helped prepar the alter. He was my rock when I needed to vent as a worker with WRHA. He was there as a friend, a priest and convenient. A man who loved a good whiskey and a smoke! We are so sorry we couldn't have been there for you in those final days as you were for us, Monsignor Perron, but knowing you, we are forgiven. Love you forever and always, Maureen, & Glen Pierson Desiree & Chad Pierson Amanda, & Shayne Pierson Emmalyn & Peyton Pierson - Posted by: Maureen & Glen Pierson (Parishioners & Friends) on: Nov 17, 2017

The good he did for our family was incalculable. My mother once said, "You'll never know how much I owe that priest." His good sense and kindness were a mainstay but he wouldn't compromise on Christian principles. He once said, "If you're a Catholic priest and everyone likes you, you know you're doing something wrong." Many of the lessons learned from his sermons are seared in my mind. Good friend, may you wing your way to Heaven. May Our Lady be there to greet you. - Posted by: Jocelyne Fox (parishioner) on: Oct 08, 2017

I was working at La Banque Nationale on Provencher when Uncle Henri walked in. I told him I was his niece and he asked who my parents are and said "I remember when you were this high!" He married my parents on Oct 18/69 in St. Adolphe and when my wedding was set for Oct 18/08 in St. Adolphe I was hoping that he would marry us too, he did come to the wedding tho!! He was a great man with a great sense of humour, and will be missed. Je t'aime m'oncle Henri ❤️😢 - Posted by: Colleen Fehr (Braun) (Niece) on: Oct 06, 2017

I'm saddened by the news of the passing of Mgr Perron, but I'm delighted to be able to write a few words in tribute to him. I was born one year after his ordination, and saw him last in 1986. I must say that he was a marvelous priest and such a humble and approachable person with a great sense of humor. I must say that I consider him to be one of the most influential persons in my life. We lived a few steps down the lane from the rectory and it felt great to go knock at his door at any time or season. He was always welcoming "Entre Maurice, on pourra jaser un petit peut. Qu'est il y a de nouveau?" His very "proper" housekeeper probably did not think too much of our visits, but he always made time for young people. I'd say he had a real gift that way. His approachability did not make us respect him less, but rather, it made us love him more! He loved to tease us about infantile things, but he always talk "man to man". I gained a lot of wisdom and practical common sense from our conversations, and sometimes his corrections. I could tell many stories, about him, but I must mention, at least, his involvement in our parish Boy Scouts! He would always attend our Scout Camps, and I remember how thrilled I was that I was able to ride with him, all the way to St. Paul Alberta, with many "adventures" on the way! I also, will never forget, Mgr. Beaudoux being at that "Jamboree", and him towering over us kids in full Boy Scout regallia"! M.l'Abbé always took our childish behavior with at good humor, but if you did something really "stupid" you might get your ears pulled! I don't think I ever did though. Still, one of the saddest days in my life, was when we had to say goodbye to him, and let him go to the lucky Parish of Lorette. It didn't seem fair. He certainly deserved his honorary title as well as becoming Vicar General, for he was a true "Shepherd of souls", though titles and positions did not "go to his head. I was so fortunate to meet him a few times as an adult, and it felt as though he had never left. Thank you for the memories, M.l'abbé. And rest in peace old friend! - Posted by: Maurice Carney, (Calgary, Alberta) (Former Parishioner at Notre Dame de l'Assomption (1960-1965)) on: Oct 06, 2017

I will always remember the time my school Gabrielle-Roy went to confession, I went to see him in the confession "stall", and I mentioned my father's name. He immediately asked to see me. It was a great moment seeing my great-uncle. He will be missed. - Posted by: Danielle Perron (Niece) on: Oct 05, 2017
