PATRICIA RUTH STILL (nee MEARNS) 1933 - 2017 Peacefully on September 27, 2017, at Parkview Place, Pat Still passed away at the age of 84. Predeceased by her parents Harry and Evelyn, her sisters Irene and Audrey, her husband Jasper, Jasper's siblings Carol, Dorothy and Bus, and her in-laws Bessie Lobb, Clare Still, Gordon Paine and Allan Mealy. Pat is survived by her sons, David, Douglas (Jodi Young) and Michael, daughter Nancy (Alan Semchuk), grandchildren Claire (Adam Alkins), Lisa and Adam, special nieces Audrey (Curtis Rebizant) and Barbara (Ralph Anderson), nephew Tom Allen (Linda Smith), as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Born March 13, 1933 in Flin Flon to Harry and Evelyn Mearns, she moved to Winnipeg after graduation to attend nursing school. When her father fell ill she left school to be home until he passed away. Upon her return to Winnipeg she worked at Travelers Insurance where she met Jasper Still. They were married in Flin Flon on November 24, 1956 (Grey Cup Day) and were blessed with their four children - David, Nancy, Douglas and Michael. Pat's pride and joy were her children and she attended all of their activities as their biggest fan. Whether it was cheering at the hockey rink, the speedskating oval, soccer or baseball fields, she could not have been more proud. Her grandchildren, Claire Lisa and Adam were an added source of joy. She delighted in their many visits and spoiled them like any grandmother would. Trips for ice cream or to the toy store brought wonderful memories for all. Mom was thrilled when she starting working at Eaton's in 1974. Her first posting was in the handbag department and later she moved to lingerie. She was so proud to be an Eaton's employee and to hear her speak of the company you would think she was part owner. She often shared stories of visiting Eaton's as a child and was devastated when the store closed. Mom made sure she got a memento brick when the store was demolished. Mom loved her summers spent at Beaver Lake and Bakers Narrows near Flin Flon, as well as winter holidays in Lake Worth, Florida. She also loved the family vacations in St. Paul, Minnesota to visit Dad's sister and family as well as the trips to Fargo and Grand Forks for shopping (one of her favourite things). As part of the Wartime Pilots and Observers Association she attended conventions with Dad in several locations including overseas. The trips to Europe were highlights for her. The family wishes to express gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Parkview Place for their commitment, kindness and compassion. Flowers are graciously declined, however, friends and relatives may choose to make a memorial contribution to the Assiniboine Park Conservancy or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. A celebration of Pat's life will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 10 at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery).
