  • When my parents arrived in Winnipeg in July 1953, it was Tom that drove my dad to several job interviews and eventually got him hired at the City Of Winnipeg as Heavy Duty mechanic. Dad worked there till he retired. Tom also helped him fill out paperwork for several things that where required as emigrants, explained how and where we could go to arrange to get our belongings delivered that came in via ship 4 weeks later. We always appreciated the help we received when we came here, unable to speak the language and no friends or family. My dad's name was Gus de Haan. Our condolences with your loss.
