Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH MARCZYK April 27, 1924 October 8, 2017 Passed away on October 8, 2017 in Winnipeg in her 94th year. Predeceased by her husband John of 44 years in 1997. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her sister Londine "Londi" (Kasimir "Casey") and brother John; children, Monica, Anita (Rick) and John (Connie); grandchildren, Callie, Keenan, Lisa (Kent) and Jared (Kate); niece Rita (Russ) and nephew Albert and many friends. As children and grandchildren we were blessed, as mom was the most loving and caring person. Her kindness, guidance and willingness to always help us were unconditional. Mom had a special love for her grandchildren and their well-being and so "grandma" will be sadly missed. Born in the village of Neudorf in former Galicia (Austro Hungary), she celebrated her Austrian heritage. Immigrating with her young family to Canada in 1959, mom worked proudly as a nurses aid at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre for many years where she made many lifelong friendships. With a knowledge of several East European languages, she especially enjoyed providing translation support to medical staff. Mom was very passionate about gardening, supplementing family meals with fresh vegetables and beautifying her home and garden with a wide range of flowering plants. She also enjoyed reading novels and telling stories about our extended family's early European and Canadian immigration to the prairies. Gregarious by nature, she was always happiest talking and being with family and friends and this continued during the final years of her life. Mom enjoyed living at Luther Home, the support from Pastor Hanny Labun, caregivers and the gentle friends she made while there. Special thanks to the social worker Roy Hardie, doctor Heather Domke and nurses Ronda and Dawn for the dedication and care they provided. Funeral service will take place Monday, October 16, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. Interment and reception will follow. Viewing will take place one hour prior to the funeral service. After a beautiful life's Journey, it is now time for you to rest Mom. Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery 204-338-7111
