Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJANET LEONORA GIESBRECHT (HICKS) With heavy hearts we are saddened to announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, Janet on October 10, 2017, one day after her 79th birthday. Born October 9, 1938, at Reading, Berkshire, England and immigrated to Canada in January 1946. Janet was predeceased by her parents Harry and Gladys Hicks, and son Michael Baril. Survived by her husband John, sister Francis Kinch of Calgary, daughter Laurette Wyshnicki (Ken) of Cheltenham, Ontario, son Raymond Baril of Winnipeg, grandsons Bryan Wyshnicki of Toronto, Stephen (Stephanie) Wyshnicki, and great-grandsons Michael and Matthieu of Ottawa. Janet attended school in Winnipeg at George V and Lord Selkirk. Janet's employment years saw her at the Royal Bank of Canada, Maple Leaf Mills, Manitoba Department of Education, post secondary education. Janet lead a very full life filled with activity and people. She formed the Rythmettes, a baton twirling association and ran it successfully for years teaching many children! She belonged to the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society, and Ballroom Dancing with Westview Dance Club. Whyte Ridge Growing In Grace and their Secret Sisters were important parts of her life as well, that she enjoyed. A celebration of Janet's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Whyte Ridge Baptist Church, 201 Scurfield Blvd. Public viewing an hour prior to service, at 10:00 a.m. with interment at Thomson "In the Park", 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg. We would like thank neighbours and friends for all their help over the years; for the prayers, calls, cards, flowers, food and loving support.
