HELEN JOSEPHINE PURA On Thursday, September 28, 2017, at the age of 96, our precious mother of six; grandmother of 14; great-grandmother of ten and great-great grandmother of one; passed away peacefully and as always, in her own way. Mom was our real-life hero. She loved us, taught us, protected us, advocated for us and made sure we were healthy and felt safe. Mom was never afraid to express her thoughts and opinions. She lived a long and fruitful life with her generous, fun and independent spirit, right until the end. She is now reunited with her beloved husband Steve, other family and friends and is resting with them in the comfort of heaven's loving arms. We will always cherish our memories of her legacy in lessons taught, remarkable childhoods and beyond, fabulous knitting mementos, as well as all the special and personal items she saved over the years for us, about us and as a family. Thank you, mom you are forever in our hearts and we were blessed to have you in our lives for as long as we did. We love you mom Judy (Dave), Lori, Lynne, Teri (Randy), Rick (Vivian), Jinx (Barry) and all of our generations both present and future. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 20 at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard, with interment to follow. Flowers graciously declined. Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I am so sorry for your loss. Our Mom's hold a special place in one's heart. Although we did not see each other much or talk often - your Mom always made me feel welcome. You felt like you were speaking to a close friend. Love and prayers to you all. - Posted by: Grace Regula Penner (cousin) on: Oct 20, 2017

  • My heartfelt condolences to all the Puras. Aunty Helen was one of a kind, and when you put her together with her sister , Buddy, another special lady, sparks would fly. My memories of aunty Helen stem back to those Christmas dinners on Riley crescent, playing in the school field, aunty Helen looking for us, visits on Magnus where we would rummage through moms treasures and more recently, aunty Helen’s visits to mom in the nursing home. The bond they shared was evident , and I’m so glad they can visit one another again. Aunty Helen will always be in my thoughts and prayers, and forever in my heart.
