CONNIE GAYLA MARIE SORENSON (BROWN) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Grandmother, Daughter and Sister, Connie Sorenson on October 11, 2017 at the age of 56. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Christopher and Jerilyn Sorenson and her "Grandbabies" Chase and Julianne; her Dad John Brown; siblings Gerald (Connie), Lucille, John Henry and Jerry; sister-in-law Jackie Wilson as well as her niece and nephews; Danielle (Anthony) and their daughter Layne, Jeremy, and James; and special friend Clarence Steiner. She will be lovingly remembered by her previous husband John, and the Sorenson family, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends. She is predeceased by her Mom Ida, and brother Kirk; mother and father-in-law, Tina and Rudy; and also, her dear friend Marlene. Connie grew up in Rennie, Manitoba where she and John raised their only son Christopher. Family was very important to her and she loved her Mom and Dad and siblings immensely. Her bubbly, friendly personality was magnetic, and Connie made friends wherever she went. She enjoyed having people around and their home in Rennie was often full of visitors. For many years, Connie worked in the Whiteshell Provincial Park; both at the gate and in the campground. Several summers were spent camping at Big Whiteshell and she often reminisced about her time there. Connie made many friendships with the campers and cottagers who came to the park year after year and were greeted with her familiar smiling face, excited for the summer season. Unfortunately, in recent years Connie suffered with an illness that challenged her strength and resolve. She fought everyday to get healthy and find herself again. The family would like to thank Connie's dear friend Clarence Steiner who loved and cared for her over the last few years, as well as her best friend Gina Newman who would not give up on her. We will fondly remember the beauty and big heart that her struggles could not take away. A celebration of Connie's life will be held Friday, October 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel in Beausejour, Manitoba. Lunch to follow at the Rennie Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba. • Connie is proof positive that we all have an opportunity here in our short time in earth to impact another's life. In my 38 years of coming to Brereton Lake Connie was the one who told me I was home when I saw here smiling face at the gate. In later years her infectious laughter filled the store and one couldn't help but be filled with joy. May her spirit of kindness live on through her children and grand babies. - Posted by: Karlene (Cottager) on: Oct 25, 2017
