ALBERT JULIUS KASPER February 3, 1930 - October 16, 2017 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather. He was predeceased by his parents, Julius and Liesa Kasper; siblings, Laura, Leila and Walter. Al will be lovingly remembered by his wife Marie of 64 years, children Jim, Tracy (Mark), Dr. Ken and his grandchildren Tyler (Allyson) and Ashlee (Jonathan). Al was born in Preclau Mallin, Germany and raised in La Rivière, MB and Winnipeg. He started to work for the C.P.R. when he was 16 working as a wiper, a fireman and then as an engineman. He retired in 1990 with 45 years of service. Al loved his family and cherished all their times together, especially around his immaculate swimming pool. He loved watching our sports, bragging about his family, teaching us how to save and collect items (like hockey cards), spending time with neighbours and friends, playing Flashbacks slo-pitch, having coffee with the guys, taking trips to Hawaii and Europe and being a long time season ticket holder for the Bombers and Jets. He loved the late afternoon (4:00 p.m.) shot of Crown Royal Rye and the Ellen Degeneres show always made him smile. Memorial service will be on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., Priest Rev. Liz Richens. The family would like to thank Dr. Houston, Dr. van Ameyde, Dr. Sochocki, the Green desk team at Health Science Centre, nurse Eric (D4), nurse Norma (A4) and all the homecare and staff at Kildonan House especially Kimmy, for taking such good care of him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Stephen's Anglican Church or a charity of your choice. He was a great guy, was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Dear Kasper Family, Our families have known each other for many years. We met through the great game of Ringette and it has been a journey of competition and respect. There were no more avid, knowledgeable and positive supporters of their children and the sports they loved than Mr. and Mrs. Kasper. I recall seeing them in the stands at all the games, regular season or Nationals. Mr. Kasper always had a kind word for the refs, be it a good game or not (he never let on). He was one of the great ones. Best wishes, Kevin - Posted by: Kevin Abrahams (Friend) on: Oct 22, 2017

  • You welcomed me into your home almost 30 years ago after only a short time, I knew you were an incredible person. You showed me how to take care of the pool and how to cut the grass the right way, also over the years when we stopped working and then we had a drink(s). I will truly miss bbq for you and the family dinners on Sundays. And cooking your favorite food, Steak shrimp and cheese Smokey’s God bless Mark, (your favorite son-in-law) - Posted by: Mark Peacock (Son-in-law) on: Oct 21, 2017
