Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJUNE MAYBELLE CORY (COLLEY) It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of June Maybelle (Colley) Cory, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend on October 7, 2017. June was born on February 6, 1929 in Winnipeg, MB. She was a lifelong resident of Winnipeg and spent most of those years in the Weston area. She received her education at Cecil Rhodes and Daniel McIntyre schools. In February of 1947, while working at the Royal Bank as a teller and later as a manager, she met the love of her life, Keith Cory with their first date being a sleigh ride sponsored by the bank. They married on August 11, 1951 at the St. Thomas Anglican Church and had been married for over 66 years. June was a constant care-giver. Shortly after she was married, June left the workforce and dedicated her life to caring for her brother Terry who had Cerebral Palsy and raising her own family. In later years she cared for her mother and most recently cared for Keith during his illness. June was a long-time member of St. Thomas Anglican Church where she served as a choir member, Sunday school teacher and on the Altar Guild. She was also a key organizer and participant in the church's many events and activities over the years. Many happy summers were spent at the family cottage at Lester Beach, and in later years she spent time travelling to Palm Springs and Florida with Keith and his siblings, as well as going on cruises with her family. The greatest joys of June's life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and prepared many family dinners that everyone looked forward to. Christmas Eve at grandma and grandpa's was always a highlight, as everybody, especially the children were excited to receive their very own "box of many gifts" prepared by Grandma June. She loved to sew and knit, making outfits and beautiful sweaters for her family. She also enjoyed doing needlepoint and cross-stitch. She enjoyed gardening and there were always plenty of vegetables in the freezer to feast on all winter long. June was recently predeceased by her beloved husband Keith, her parents Lawrence and Mabel (Wilson) Colley, brother Trevor "Terry," and many brothers-in-law/sisters-in-law of the Cory family. She is survived by her daughters Laurel (Coleman) Robinson and Michelle (Bob) Wedlake, son Christopher, grandchildren Lawrence (Maria), Courteney (Ernie), Meredith, Matthew (Grace), Mackenzie (Chelsea), Kyle, Jordyn and Joshua, great-grandchildren Xander, Sterling, Daisy, Erika and Carly, brothers-in-law/sisters-in-law of the Cory family, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, cards and visits, and express their heartfelt appreciation to Rev. Colin MacIver, and the nurses and staff on the 5th floor Unit 1 at the Seven Oaks General Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion. At June's request cremation has taken place as well as a private immediate family graveside service where June and Keith have been buried together. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cerebral Palsy Association of Manitoba, 903-213 Notre Dame Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3B 1N3 or to a charity of your choice.
