Date of Passing: Oct 17, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryREVEREND FREDERICK C. HUBBARD Fred died peacefully after a short illness, at Grace Hospital on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. He was the only child of the late Fred and Edith Hubbard of Elmwood. He attended George V, Lord Selkirk and St. John's High School and in 1948 graduated from United College (now U of W) with a B.A. degree. After three more years of study, he was ordained as a minister of the United Church and went on to congregations in Lyleton, Carberry, Selkirk and Winnipeg. He also served as secretary of the Winnipeg Presbytery for a term followed by the same position for Manitoba Conference and was twice a delegate to General Council. In 1967, he was awarded the Centennial Medal for his work with both the elderly and the teenage groups of his congregation. Fred enjoyed curling and in 1965 he, and the rink he was on, skipped by Rev. Wally Bergman of Selkirk, won their clubs championship. He was also an avid model railroader and had a fine collection of rolling stock. He and his wife Frances enjoyed symphony concerts and drama productions at both R.M.T.C., P.T.A and Rainbow Stage. They both enjoyed travel and made many trips to Britain, Continental Europe and Canada coast to coast. A particular highlight was a trip to New York to attend Metropolitan Opera performance by stars Samuel Ramey and Placido Domingo. But Fred's most important function was father, grandfather and great grandfather to the children he dearly loved. He was predeceased by his parents and parents-in-law and sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and his great-granddaughter Abigail Stewart Pearse. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Audrey Frances, three daughters; Jane, Elizabeth and Julie and son David, son-in-law Glenn Botting, daughter-in-law Cheryl Hubbard; grandchildren, Melissa (Richard) and Jennifer (Don) Stewart, Christopher (Vickey) and Amberly (Michael) Botting and Kailey and Michelle Hubbard; great- grandchildren, Noah and Leah Hornung and Callum and Camden Stewart Pearse and his 97 year brother-in-law Donald Ferns of BC. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial gifts to the University of Winnipeg would be appreciated. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

Fred was highly regarded as a minister and pastor. Many admired his work, and are indebted to him for it, as secretary of both Presbytery and Conference. My sincerest condolences to each member of Fred's family. I am sure you have enriched his life and he has enriched yours.
