VELMA ELSIE MARY ELLIS (nee WEIR) 1930 2017 On October 12, 2017 Velma passed away at the age of 87. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Charles Frederick. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Richard Patrick, Lora-Mae Louise and grandchildren, Ashley, James, Kim, Justin, Jessica and Jennifer. Velma was born on March 1, 1930 to William and Elsie Weir (nee Glew) in Regina, SK and grew up in a three story walk up with her brother Bill. After moving to Didsbury, AB in 1962, where she raised her family, Velma followed her husband Chuck to Edmonton then finally settling in Winnipeg, where she worked until retirement as a Medical Transcriptionist for the Winnipeg Health Organization. She was very active in her retirement years, curling, bowling, lawn bowls and reading. As her eyesight failed, she had to give up her much loved knitting. We thank the wonderful staff at Red River Place Personal Care Home in Selkirk, Manitoba for their care and compassion in the last 15 months. A Celebration of Life will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Selkirk United Church, Selkirk, MB.
