GARY SELLEY Peacefully, with his family and close friends by his side, Gary passed away on October 16, 2017. He is survived by his wife Cynthia; daughter Tamara Zary (Curtis) and grandchildren Tyler and Danica; his brother Ralston (Phyllis), and his "other brother" Larry Leiter (Debbie). He was born in Winnipeg, the son of Clair and Hazel Selley. Gary grew up in the west end, went to Isaac Brock and Daniel McIntyre Schools. He played many sports, particularly hockey, curling and baseball going on to win many titles including provincial championships. Gary started golf at an early age, caddying and playing at the St. Charles Country Club. Gary went on to a long, distinguished career at Boeing Canada where he met and married the love of his life, Cynthia. Gary continued his love of sports and playing hockey with the Boeing Jets, and as an old timer with the Isaac Brock OTimers. Curling was another sport that Gary regularly participated in. In the summer he enjoyed many golf games with friends as well as trying hard to catch a master angler while fishing with his friends and grandchildren. Gary thoroughly enjoyed his early retirement mastering multiple daily games of golf and hockey in three different leagues. Gary was an avid golfer and joined Breezy Bend Country Club in 1997, he loved spending his summers at Breezy kibitzing with the boys and winning his fair share of snips, often playing 36 holes a day. Gary enjoyed many years in his retirement spending time vacationing in Mexico, Arizona, and Palm Springs where he played many more games of golf with Cynthia and friends. The day his daughter was born changed his life forever. Gary was extremely proud of Tamara, and all of her accomplishments, particularly her being her "strong determined" self. They were so close and had such a wonderful connection. Gary was so thankful and pleased with Tamara's choice for her life mate, Curtis, he always said he "couldn't ask for a better son-in law". Granky, as he was affectionately known, was so taken with his grandchildren Tyler and Danica, his face lit up whenever they walked in the room, and boy did they love him. He so enjoyed spending time with Tyler and Danica (his girlfriend) they being the "apple of his eye". An extra special thank you to Larry and Debbie Leiter and Al Brolly who provided support throughout Gary's illness, and to the very end. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at CancerCare, especially Dr. Paul Daeninck, and Dr. Maged Nashed, and the Oncology nurses at St. Boniface Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held at Breezy Bend Country Club, 7620 Roblin Blvd. on Tuesday, October 24, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba in the name of Gary Selley. I was fortunate to be a part of Gary's weekend group at Breezy Bend shortly after I joined the club. Gary took his golf seriously but he never let the ups and downs bother him. He once told me if you aren't having fun on the golf course you should be somewhere else. There were many times when watching Gary and Al try to out prank each other was the highlight of the round. I am sure he has left his family with many warm and lasting memories to find comfort in. My condolences to the family. - Posted by: David Kazina (Fellow ) on: Oct 23, 2017

The one thing that makes Gary's passing easier for me is that I was fortunate enough to have known him. He was a unique individual that made you feel good just being around, and knowing that humor could breakout at any moment. He could even make his old electric car door lock gag seem new and funny. So many happy memories. Sympathy to Cynthia, Tamara, and family - Posted by: Ian Hogg (Co-worker) on: Oct 22, 2017

It was with much sadness that I heard that Gary had left the place he so deserved to have spent many more good years, with his wonderful wife Cynthia and his family and friends. I remember fondly the times in the early days of Boeing Winnipeg working with Gary. He was a fine engineer and one of the good guys. His contributions then, and for years to come, were instrumental in making Boeing Winnipeg what it is today. My deepest condolences go to Cynthia and Tamara, and I hope they have comfort in knowing that Gary left us with many good memories. Greg Melnyk - Posted by: Gregory Melnyk () on: Oct 22, 2017
