Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFLORENCE MARION WELHAM (nee HEWETT) March 27, 1931 - October 21, 2017 Peacefully, on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Betel Home, Gimli, with her family by her side, Marion Welham, aged 86 years, of Gimli, MB, beloved wife of Derek (deceased). One of nine children, Marion was born and raised in Neyland, Pembrokeshire, Wales. Marion began her working life with the Ministry of Food, aged 14. Mom and Dad were married in 1955 and settled down to raise their family. Many happy hours were spent on the beach enjoying life on the Cleddau Estuary. In 1970 Mom and Dad with their young family immigrated to Canada, moving first to Montreal and over the years continuing to move west, eventually retiring on Vancouver Island, and later in Gimli. In addition to raising four children, Mom worked in various organizations and at one time was the local agent for The Tribune Newspaper in Gimli. Mom enjoyed many hobbies, knitting, cross stitch and painting being but a few. An avid collector mom was continually picking up stones and shells which she would paint and display. Wherever life took her, mom always kept in close contact, never missing a birthday or anniversary, a result of coming from a large, close knit family. Marion was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Florence; siblings, Joyce (Ben), Malcolm (Cherry), Kenny, John and sister-in-law Jean. Remaining to forever cherish Marion's memory are son Clive (Jill), son Adrian (Jo-Ann); daughter Vivienne (Paul) and son Christopher; grandchildren Tristan (Diana), James (Kaycee), Matthew (Jana); Rhys, Carly (Mac); Sandie, Karen; Jessica, Kelsey; brothers, Bernard and Graham; sisters, Margaret (Stan), Diane (Brian); sister-in-law Margaret as well as extended family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Her ashes will be returned to Wales where a family service will be held. A special thank you to Dr R. C. Patel and the staff at the Betel Home, Gimli for their kind care.
