ROBERT KEVIN HILTON February 15, 1959 - October 20, 2017 Kevin Hilton passed away very peacefully at home on October 20, 2017 in the loving company of his darling wife Teresa Tierney and sister-in-law Frances. He is survived by his brothers, Bill (Sheila) and Craig (Elizabeth) and fondly remembered by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, extended family members, Adam and Kim, and his many other close friends. 'Kev' was born in Nottingham, England, raised in Ottawa and attended High School in North Bay, ON, and Winnipeg. A gifted hockey player, he played for the OHA Jr. A North Bay Trappers at age 15 and carried his love of the game with him throughout his life. Truly memorable were several seasons with 'Team Hawerchuk' in Winnipeg that was a source of great pride and lasting friendships. Kevin and Teresa were consummate explorers who reveled in discovering Canada from St. John's to Tofino and most points in between. Family visits offered similar opportunities along the byways and among the more unique pubs of Ireland, about which Kev could hold forth with great authority. He had a most observant eye matched with a wry sense of humour, a combination that brought joy to many and will ever be his hallmark amongst family and friends. He was an interested and interesting man who always found these same qualities in others. He left us all far too soon. Kevin will be remembered at a gathering of family and friends next Spring at a date and place to be announced, followed by an interment service in Dauphin, MB. Teresa and family wish to express sincere gratitude to Reliable Home Care, especially Kuljit, Miguel, Yatin, Neeti, Justin and Albina for their constant support during the past months, and to the palliative care team for their exceptional care and compassion provided in these final weeks. Psalm 37:23, The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I worked with Kevin at Bristol Aerospace and I very was sad to read of his passing. Kevin and had a dry wit and sense of humor that made for easy conversation. He had a gentle soul and was always thoughtful in his interactions. We had a good group of people at Bristol but Kevin sticks out and I thought of him often and long after we had lost touch with each other. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and family. - Posted by: Jim McCormick (Friend) on: Oct 31, 2017

  • Hi Teresa, Very difficult to find the right words to offer any comfort at times like this. We give you our deepest heartfelt sympathy to your loss, also to your families. He will always be remembered as a friend held in high respect for who he was. It's a loss to all that knew him, sadly missed but never forgotten. Our prayers now wish you heal, find peace and keep the good memories with you! Take care of yourself Teresa. sincerely, XOXOXO Frank and Susan P.S I only recently heard about Kevin and honestly it tore me up inside, still is. Did not feel comfortable coming to see him at that time.My emotions get the best of me so would not of done either one of us good. I hope you understand.Having said that let me share my memories of Kevin. It's all about Team Hawerchuk. I heard about the team in 1987 and back in the day very few spots were available, and you had to try out.Beer drinkers and you had to try out,too funny. NOT REALLY,you had to fit in. Well I fit in and I was a happy camper, I made the team, really felt like an honour to be excepted. I believe Kevin was captain forever,an he earned my respect right from the get go. His calm cool collect attitude earned my respect immediately. He was the backbone on defence,he had a great move which I call the slip and slide worked everytime.Fake and freeze you one way and gone by you the other way. Was a thing of beauty to watch.Never forget the year of 92-93 the only year we finally won it all,2nd best for years. Kevin presented me a trophy on behalf of the team(I know he organized) for my efforts at the time for running team.Still have that trophy proudly in view. There are so many best of times, many times out at Dave Furey cabin for golf tournaments, parties at DANO'S, get togethers here there and everywhere, even parking lot chuks. ANYONE that played for the CHUKS, through 1982-2002,remembers as a very very special time. Dinner parties, also some great gaming sessions I had with Kevin. At the end of the day I am grateful for Kevin touching my life. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Frank and Susan Steding (friend) on: Oct 29, 2017

  • R.K. Hilton. You made the haywire antics of working and living on a CNR signal gang in Northwest Ontario that much more hilarious. I often hear your impressions of old coworkers in my mind and it forces me to chuckle. I am eternally saddened that I wont ever have the opportunity to tip a pint or toss a dart again in your company, but, I am also eternally thankful that we shared all those laughs and were friends. Fair journeys. HGW - Posted by: Howard Warren (Friend) on: Oct 28, 2017

  • I didn’t see Kev often growing up, as both my dad and my uncle were military, but that made the time spent with my Hilton cousins that much more memorable. Kev, my brother and I were all close in age so we were able to hang together on vacations. Since leaving the country crack in ‘92, I’ve only seen him a handful of times and met his lovely wife Teresa once, but he and his brothers weren’t far from my heart. And, of course, hockey was never far from Kevin’s heart. I offer my sincere and heartfelt condolences to Teresa, Bill & Sheila and Craig & Elizabeth, and the nieces and nephews. You’re in my heart and prayers. - Posted by: Cathy Hilton (Cousin) on: Oct 28, 2017
