Offer Condolences or Memory Make a donation to Winnipeg Humane Society
MOLLIE SCARLETT MARCELLE MOIR 1986 - 2017 It is with great sorrow that her family announces the sudden passing of Mollie Scarlett Marcelle Moir. She is survived by her mother, Lauranne Bonneau, her father, John Moir, and her grandparents, Marcel and Ernestine Bonneau. Mollie will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Lindsay (Taylor Kostiuk), her partner, Dan Koch, her aunts, Delle Bonneau and Judy Walker, her uncles Marc (Pauline) Bonneau and Gord Moir. She will be sadly missed by her Walker and Bonneau cousins, and her two fur babies: Bette Boop and Roux Roux. Mollie was predeceased by her Gramma Mollie Moir, her Uncle Gene Walker, and her Great-Gramma Paula and Great-Grandpa Alex Patterson. Mollie lived in Winnipeg her entire life but travelled to many corners of the world. Her love of the unknown led her to visit all but the coldest continent. However, she always found her way back home, where she was most loved. Mollie was an extraordinary human being with many mysterious facets. She was intelligent, beautiful, tender hearted, extremely creative and very determined. She was passionate in her love of animals, fostered many dogs, and delighted in placing them in their happy 'forever homes'. Even though Mollie looked like a Princess, she loved exploring the spirit of the outdoors, whether it was camping, yurting, hiking, or water tubing (as long as she didn't get her hair wet) - she loved doing it all. Her creativity took many forms, she wrote poetry and was a published author, wrote stories, painted, did amazing photography, restored old furniture, and with Dan, created new furniture. Cremation has taken place, but an afternoon 'to remember' will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 2:30 p.m., at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. As Mollie loved vibrant colours, the family encourages everyone to wear polka dots, daisies, sunflowers or just a bright colour to honour her memory. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hull's Haven, the Humane Society or any Animal Rescue Centre or to the Canadian Mental Health Association, 930 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3G 0P8. You were a bright and shining star Scarlett. I cannot believe that you are gone. Thank you for all the little souls you poured your heart into, helping them heal and move on to new lives. You were a beautiful person inside and out, and this world is a sadder place without you. We miss you. To her family, there are absolutely no words that can help in times like this. Just know that we are thinking of you, and that we will be there if you need us. - Posted by: Sally Hull (Friend) on: Oct 29, 2017

I only knew Scarlett for about a month through work but from that time alone, I could see that Scarlett was a kind, friendly, beautiful person who loved life. I talked with her only a handful of times but sitting just 6 feet from her every day at work, I heard her voice constantly, saw her joyful smile and got to know her a little. From the obituary, it sounds like she came from a beautiful, loving family and had a true zeal for this life. We have been mourning her loss as a coworker and friend since we got the news and will always miss her. My sincerest condolences to the family, friends and all who knew her. She will be truly missed. - Posted by: Karl Sawatzky (Coworker) on: Oct 29, 2017

I first met Mollie when we were a couple of five year old kindergarteners. Even at that age, she was so kind and caring. We often say a person is beautiful both inside and out— nothing could be truer of Mollie. She was just one of those people that everyone liked. As we got older, Mollie and I went out separate ways for a number of years, until roughly 3 years ago when she introduced me to Hull’s Haven. It was then that we reconnected— I saw her a few times a week while dropping my rescue off at daycare. She was always quick with that beautiful, infectious smile of hers and to offer any help or advice with dogs. I truly admired her adventurous spirit, her remarkable way with dogs, her creativity and passion, and so much more. I really wish I’d told her that. To Mollie’s family; my heart breaks for you. Please take comfort knowing you are not mourning alone. Mollie touched more lives with her bright light than she probably ever knew. I’m really going to miss her. - Posted by: Stephanie Kloos (Friend) on: Oct 28, 2017
