KAREN MARIE GURSKY It is with deep sadness, following a lengthy illness that we announce the passing of Karen Marie Gursky on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the age of 57. Karen will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by husband Dwayne, son Kyle and daughter Katherine. She is also survived by mother Kay Mistafa; mother-in law Frances Gursky; brothers Ron (Sandie), Jim (Gail), Bob (Laurie); sister Trish (Chris); brothers and sisters-in-law Don (Margaret), Eric (Barb), Gary (Gwen), Glen (Debbie); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and loving family and friends. Karen was predeceased by her father William Mistafa. She was raised on a dairy farm in Marquette until the age of 13, her family then moved to Warren. As an adult Karen worked briefly for Warner Bros. Pictures and then enjoyed a career of over 30 years with RBC Insurance Group. She met the love of her life and married Dwayne on June 30, 1990. They enjoyed many trips together over the years. Karen left RBC as a result of her illness. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, November 10, 2017 at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard, Winnipeg. Reception to follow. Special thank you to all the staff of Riverview Health Centre Palliative Care Unit and Grace Hospital CancerCare Unit. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3, CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or Society for the Prevention and Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3. Dwayne - I was talking with Heather tonight and reminiscing about Karen. Words never suffice. Almost 2 years now and it's like yesterday when I last saw Karen.....I am so angry that good hearted people like Karen are taken from us way too early. I wish someone could wave the magic wand and change things. Sadly that can't happen....however, if we believe in, if we hope that....there is something more to life than what exists today, then we smile and say, see you soon because we all get there at some point.
