PHYLLIS PONTON 1928 - 2017 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Phyllis Ponton. On November 5, 2017, she passed peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital. She is survived by her husband Morris; her children, Cindy (Brian); Sharon (Bryan); her grandchildren, Troy and Tory. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Gordon Barefoot; brothers, Gordon Barefoot, Frank Barefoot, George Barefoot, Harry Barefoot and Tom Barfoot. Mom was born in Brandon, MB and moved to Inchkeith, SK as a child where the family ran a post office/general store. The family then moved to Winnipeg when Mom was in her teens. Mom spent her early adulthood playing women's fastball for the St. Boniface Athletics, and working as a Bookkeeper for a local bakery. She married Morris on September 17, 1954 and they recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary. The family will be celebrating Phyllis's life with a private family memoriam. Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • My condolences to Phyllis' family. I met Phyllis as a very young boy through my uncle Ed Wilde who worked with Phyllis at Honeysuckle Bakeries. My uncle always had kind words to say about her and that's how I remember her. Years later I had the pleasure of curling with her brother-in-law Moe. - Posted by: Ed Klemm (Acquaintance) on: Nov 12, 2017

  • My sincerest and heartfelt condolences to your family, Cindy and Sharon, I am so sorry for your loss. Prayers and hugs to you all. - Posted by: Stacey Beito () on: Nov 10, 2017

  • Aunty Phyllis; There are so many fond memories of time spent with our family and yours... all the dancing in the living room and the endless enjoyable get-togethers. I know our dad (your brother Tom) enjoyed being so close to you and the way our families intertwined... It is so much a part of 'who we are today'. I also love that you shared your home with Granny and Grandpa as well; as their presence further strengthened the family bond... Love you always, Bev - Posted by: Bev Voigt (Barfoot) (Niece) on: Nov 08, 2017

  • Auntie Phyl. Your home was always warm and welcoming and filled with food and love. Kids from all around knew they could come and be themselves. If I had not spent so many weekends at your home, while growing up, I fear I would have had only half a personality. So long... - Posted by: Bob Barfoot (Nephew) on: Nov 08, 2017
