LORRAINE STEFANEC (nee SCHWARTZ) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lorraine Stefanec on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the age of 78 with family at her side. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 57 years, Joe; daughter Karen; son Ken (Donna); one and only grandson Braydon; as well as sisters, Linda, Darlene, Marjorie, Diane and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Pauline Schwartz. Lorraine was born in Stornoway, Saskatchewan on October 10, 1939. She moved to Winnipeg in July 1956 where she worked for Manitoba Telephone System. She married her soulmate Joe on October 1, 1960. Lorraine's greatest treasure was her family and spending time at the family cottage at Spruce Bay always held a special place in her heart. Lorraine was a special woman, with always a smile on her face and a loving heart to share with all that passed her path. She made those that visited feel more than visitors, they were part of the family. Her warm spirit will definitely be missed, but her faith in the Lord is a comfort to all those left behind that she is now at peace. A celebration of Lorraine's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 10, 2017 at Beautiful Saviour Lutheran Church, 1541 St. Mary's Road. Viewing to be held at 10:30 a.m. Pallbearers will be Brady Urbanovich, Colin Kwiatkowski, Drew Simon, Savannah Freisen, Ron Stefanec and Braydon Ayotte. A big thank you to St. Boniface Hospital, 6th Floor, East for their compassion and support during a difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba. I Thought Of You Today I thought of you with love today but that is nothing new I thought about you yesterday and days before that too. I think of you in silence I often speak your name All I have are memories and your picture in a frame. Your memory is my keepsake with which I'll never part God has you in his keeping I have you in my heart. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

Lorraine & I were feisty rivals as teenagers during our "field meets" between local schools in the Rhein district. Every time she'd see my name on the roster that I was in her age group she would say"Oh no, that "Cookie" is in there so we don't have a chance! Those were the greatest memories, Lorraine! I was fortunate enough to have met you a few more times in Wpg. at my brother Harvey's place , and to have hashed old times, meeting your hubby, Joe. May you RIP my dear friend!! - Posted by: Beverley (Koch) Cocroft (Long time friend) on: Nov 08, 2017
