MARIE CAIRNS (née HARDER) 1927 - 2017 Marie peacefully passed away in her sleep on November 4, 2017 at the age of 90. She is survived by her husband, Sanford (Jerry); daughters Dianne Shrimpton (Eric) and Sharon Cairns (Stephen Fairley); son, Ronald Cairns (Elaine); grandchildren Ryan, Lana, Karen, Helena and Jillian; and great-grandchildren, Max and Nathan. Marie was one of 13 children and is survived by one brother, Frank Harder, and her sister Gertrude Derksen. Marie was a long time member of the Legion's Ladies Auxillary, where she spent many happy volunteering hours. She could best be described as a real people person and in her later years earned the nickname, Sweet Marie. A celebration of Marie's life will be held at the St. James Legion, 1755 Portage Avenue at Brooklyn Street from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 10.
