POLLY PODAIMA It is with deep sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Polly Podaima on Thursday, November 9, 2017, at 91 years of age. Left to mourn Polly's passing are her children Myles (Coline), Dale (Nancy), Lyla (Dave) and Liana (Jim); as well as grandchildren Josh, Jenny, Tara, Carley, Lindsay, Christie and Dwayne; great-grandchildren Sofia, Dax, Hudson, Aurora and Silas (with two more on the way); and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her infant son Billy, and her husband of 67 years, Steve. Back in 1925, Polly was born on the family homestead in Elfros, Saskatchewan, the 14th of 16 children. She had 10 brothers and five sisters. Mom enjoyed horseback riding, cooking and keeping house. After achieving her hairdressing certificate, she joined her older sister Mary in Winnipeg. This was where Polly met and married Steve back in 1950. Polly dedicated her life to her family. Her cooking skills were legendary, as was the care and concern she showed to her immediate and extended family. She was a true partner in life to Steve, working side by side with him on the farm, and in the home in the city as well. She took special pride in her crafting skills and she was the glue that held the family together. A celebration of Polly's life will be held Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Clifton Community Centre, 1315 Strathcona Street in Winnipeg. This will be held in conjunction with Steve's Celebration of Life that was previously announced for the same date and time. The family wishes to offer special thanks and gratitude to the staff and associates of Residence Despins for the compassion, care and comfort they provided to Polly in her twilight years. We would also like to thank the staff on the 5th Ward at the St. Boniface Hospital for the care and compassion that they provided. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Polly's name to the charity of your choice. • So sorry to hear that a beautiful auntie Polly has passed. We all had a lot of laughs with your mom over the years with my dad. Even a month or so ago I had a chance to talk to her on face time and loved every moment with her that I haven't had for a long time...I have seen that she never changes in her looks or actions.. We laughed and talked and now I know I have had a great moment seeing her and reminding me of her brother, my dad. They were the same kind of fun loving parents that your family and me too have had. May they all have fun and laughs in heaven. ❤️❤️ Love Marie (Pidperyhora) Cummins, Calgary, AB - Posted by: Marie cummins (Niece ) on: Nov 10, 2017
