JUDY HEMMINGER With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and sister Judy (Buss) Hemminger after a long illness. She will be greatly missed by her husband Jerry, daughters Deidre (Ross) and Carleigh (Andrew), grandchildren Donavan and Olivia, and brother Reg (Sally) Buss. She was predeceased by her father Henry and mother Ora. Judy was born in Sperling, Manitoba where she grew up active in Girl Guides, figure skating, curling and Luther League. After obtaining her LPN designation from Red River College, Judy worked as a nurse at several hospitals in Manitoba, her favourite being the Children's Hospital in Winnipeg. After she retired from nursing, Judy worked with children with disabilities, and volunteered with numerous organizations, including the Brownies and Girl Guides, and the Pinawa "News Stand" Canteen. She went to Papua, New Guinea with her husband Jerry on a three-month mission trip with the Lutheran Church. Judy enjoyed going to Blue Jays games during her time in Mississauga, and was a lifelong Goldeyes fan, spending many summer days at the ball park. Judy's health and mobility deteriorated over the last 10 years. The family is grateful for the excellent nursing she received at home, and later at Riverview Health Centre -2 East. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Muscular Dystrophy Canada or the Winnipeg Humane Society. Her funeral will be on Monday, November 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. • Judy was my cousin as well as my first childhood friend. We spent many summer holidays with play dates in her home in Sperling where we enjoyed her Mom's (Ora) wonderful baking delights. We also enjoyed bugging her brother Reg when we had the opportunity. Judy was in my wedding party and was the Godmother of my eldest daughter, Donna as well as Donna being her flower girl in Judy and Jerry's wedding. Great memories! We continued to keep in touch through our lives even though my move to BC hindered our visits in the past years which was sad for me. She was a wonderful part of our family. Our sincere sympathy to Judy's entire family members. Aurlie, Paul, Donna, Jackie and Bruce. - Posted by: Aurlie Young (Cousin) on: Nov 12, 2017

  • Judy was a great sister-in-law and aunt, a wonderful part of our family. Her sense of humour and positive attitude were great attributes that we often spoke of and admired. Her strength of character through her fight with MD was inspirational for all of us. Judy will be greatly missed by all of us.
