OLIVER PATRICK THOMAS CAMPBELL Our beloved Oliver, husband, father and grandad, died peacefully at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the Riverview Health Centre. Left to mourn are his wife of 52 years, Anne, and his nine children Simone (Peter), Margaret, James, Catherine (Ken), Patrick (Elena), Peter (Angela), Sean (Margarida), Julia (Steve) and Angela (Darren). Oliver is also mourned by his loving mother-in-law, Winnie Murphy, as well as the extended Murphy family. Grandad Oliver will be dearly missed by his six grandchildren, Joe, Luke, Mary, Oliver, Walter and Cohen. Oliver was one of three sons of Mary (Minnie) and James Campbell. He was predeceased by his brother Michael (in Ireland), and is survived by his brother Larry (in England). The family are grateful to Dr. Maksymiuk and Nurse Megan at CancerCare Manitoba for all their encouragement; to his Palliative Care nurse Devinder, and to the staff of Riverview who helped care for both Oliver and family members in his final hours. Oliver was born September 13, 1938 in Newry, County Armagh, Ireland, and with his brother Michael, immigrated to Canada in 1959. Oliver and Anne married in 1965 and together they brought nine wonderful children into the world. Oliver worked hard to support his family and was a proud and lifelong member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 987. Oliver's example of love and devotion to his family, especially to his wife Anne, will live on in his children and the many people whose lives he touched. Prayers will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 7:30 p.m., at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish (OLPH Parish), 4588 Roblin Blvd. at Grant Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for our beloved Oliver on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at OLPH Parish, Msgr. Maurice Comeault presiding. Oliver will be interred at Assumption Cemetery immediately following the Mass. Rest in peace, dear Oliver. LECLAIRE BROTHERS 475 Provencher Blvd., in care of arrangements, 204-775-2220

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Going through the family tree stuff and trying to find stuff on Canadian relationships. Remembered Oliver and Ann and children coming to our house in Carnanbane. Remembered lovely walk up to dam with Ann with Connell McCloskey and her sister too when I was about 13. Where do the years go. So sorry for your loss even if its 3 years too late.
