MERLE FRANCES BENTLEY (COOPER)
Date of Passing: Nov 12, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMERLE FRANCES BENTLEY (nee COOPER) It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Merle Frances Bentley (nee Cooper). On the evening of November 12, 2017 Mum passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of her entire family. She was the last of the William and Elizabeth Cooper family but has left behind an adoring family, daughter Janice Lynn Dodd, daughter Barbara June Swales (Chris), son Harry Allan Craig Bentley, daughter Cheryl Anne Matthewman (Phil), grandchildren Sheri Gagnon (Ron), Colin Dodd, Shannon Pipper, Patricia Charles (Darren), seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and so many more people who were proud to call her friend. Mum was a loving and caring participant in life from her early years in Portage la Prairie to her time in Winnipeg and finally in Matlock and Gimli. She looked forward to going to work every day at the City Of Winnipeg as a permits clerk from 1966 to 1984 when she retired to Matlock. During her retirement she enjoyed golfing, curling, bowling and tending to her yard which was often the envy of Matlock. She was a true friend to so many and always had an open ear and a true heart along with a monumental spirit and sense of humour. Even now we are certain that she is poking fun with an Angel and threatening to report them to the Big Boss if they're not careful. Mum was a strong and devoted woman who beat Cancer three separate times and refused to let the loss of a leg at the age of 92 years old to slow her down. We ALL love, miss and admire her so much. We would like to say a special thanks to Dr. R. C. Patel for his 30 plus years of friendship and care and an extra special thanks to the health care aides, nurses, and staff at the Betel Personal Care Home in Gimli. Cremation has taken place and there will not be a service at this time, however there will be a gathering and celebration of her life at a time to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mum's memory to The Interlake Women's Resource Centre. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com
