PATRICIA JOAN WATKINS (HOMENICK)
Date of Passing: Oct 03, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPATRICIA JOAN WATKINS (nee HOMENICK) It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Joan Watkins (nee Homenick) on October 3, 2017 at Seven Oaks General Hospital at the age of 88. Pat was predeceased by her husband Bill; parents, Peter and Nettie; brother Raymond, and her granddaughter Danica. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Marilyn, and Charlotte (Bob), son William (Angie); grandchildren, Darren (Dani), Damon, Adam (Sophea), Lindsey (David), Laura, Sarah (Tyler), Victoria (Jesse) and Alannah; great-grandchildren, Josh, Sean, Josiane and Keira, her sister Shirley, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Pat was born on a farm in Gonor, Manitoba, in 1929. The Family moved to Winnipeg when she was sixteen, where she attended Norwood Collegiate. Shortly after the war, she met and married Bill and together they enjoyed 66 years of marriage. In the 1960s, they moved to Kenora where they remained until returning to Winnipeg after Bill retired. While living in Kenora, Pat attended Confederation College, and earned an Educational Resources Technician diploma. She was an active volunteer in the public school system and an assistant leader with the local Brownies and Girl Guides; an experience she reminisced about often. She also worked part time as a florist for several years and for the rest of her life enjoyed making flower arrangements. From the time she got her first camera as a young girl, Pat had a passion for photography. She carried a camera with her everywhere and left a legacy of photos documenting every special family occasion and vacation over her lifetime, even when family members were uncooperative. Pat's other passions included travel, cooking, knitting, and crafting. Pat and Bill enjoyed travelling, particularly to Barbados, where they made many friends over the years. Her cooking was renowned and the recipes she passed down are family treasures. The Christmas stockings she knitted for her children and grandchildren will hang every December and her pressed flower art and seashell crafts are cherished keepsakes. Her family was her greatest joy and Pat loved spending time with them, over dinner, on outings or just visiting. Movie nights in the city and at the lake will be fondly remembered by all. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery), at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 25, 2017. I would like to extend my condolences on behalf of the Harry and Annette Homenick Family to Patsy's family on her passing. She was a lovely and kind lady who always extended fabulous hospitality when I would go with my parents (Harry and Annette Homenick) to visit Patsy, Bill and their family in Kenora. I would like to share a quote with Patsy's family. Patsy's has not died, but merely gone away to a better place, free of pain and suffering. We will see her again some day. Rest In Peace, Patsy. You are loved and will be missed. You are now re-united with your departed loved ones and I am sure you and Bill are reminiscing with my deceased parents, Harry and Annette about your vacations in Barbados. - Posted by: Patricia Lee Homenick (2nd Cousin(Homenick Family)) on: Nov 18, 2017
