DOUGLAS WALTER BUHR 1950 - 2017 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas Buhr at home with the love of his life Linda by his side. In addition to Linda, Doug is survived and deeply missed by his loving son Shawn; his sister Mary; brother-in-law Bob Pufall; his cherished nieces, Erica and Amanda (who was also with him at his passing); sister-in-law Sharonne, many cousins, extended family, and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Margaret. Doug's working life was as a lawyer with the City of Winnipeg, where he worked with integrity, passion, and occasional outbursts of frustration. He lived in Winnipeg all his life, but travelled the world with his beloved wife Linda, accompanied from time to time by Shawn, his parents, friends, and other family. Two of his favourite trips were perhaps the ones to the Galapagos and an anniversary jaunt on a private yacht around Greece and the Mediterranean. He greatly enjoyed snorkeling, reading, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, scotch, channel hopping and muttering about incompetent drivers. He was a deeply loyal and caring person, dedicated and caring to his family, friends and pets. He loved family occasions and getting together with friends. His rich laugh and beautiful smile will be deeply missed. Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, November 23 at Thomson "In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. Thank you to all the staff at CancerCare Manitoba. Your care and kindness was deeply appreciated. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Doug's honour to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. • My heart breaks for Doug's family and friends.. Deep and sincere condolences to Linda and Mary. I knew Doug while we were in our teens and knew him to be always truthful, honest, kind, and a lover of jokes, good and bad. A gem of a man. My prayers go out to all of you. - Posted by: Sylvia Schultz Wiebe (Friend) on: Nov 28, 2017

  • May I offer my condolences to the family and friends of Doug. • I worked with Doug in Legal Services for almost 30 years. Doug was a valued member of the team who showed integrity in everything he did. Doug had an uncanny ability to assess a legal situation and reach the right conclusion in the first 10 minutes. While many of us would analyze and research and discuss and fuss and stew, Doug would have an instant opinion - and he was almost always right! Doug was a good friend who loved to give travel advice and show off the pictures he and Linda had taken on their latest adventure. I am so sorry I am unable to go to Doug's funeral, and send my love and condolences to Linda and Mary. - Posted by: Ursula Goeres (Co-worker) on: Nov 23, 2017

  • A very heavy heart today however, I am lucky enough to have had the pleasure of working one on one with Doug. We've had countless great conversations but there is one that stands out. I remember when he came back from Linda and his highly anticipated trip to Machu Picchu. He could not wait to share all of his wonderful photos. He had a way of explaining them just so, to keep you so intrigued! We spent about an hour after his workout looking through these photos and I thoroughly enjoyed every second because I could see how passionate he was. He had an amazing sense of humor, never failed to have a witty joke to make you smile. I could go on and on but I trust that everyone that came in contact with Doug has similar enjoyable stories. Thank Doug for being you. Linda, sending you so much love always. <3 - Posted by: Stephanie Relke (Friend & Personal Trainer ) on: Nov 21, 2017
