Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN MARY CAMERON Jean passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre on November 20, 2017. She is survived by her four children, Randy (Rita), Steven (Shelley), Sherry Chiswell and Christopher (Deb), in addition to six beautiful grandchildren: Kesh, Jayce, Nikki, Spencer, Kelcie (Brad) and Benjamin, and beloved grandpuppy Muskoka. She also leaves behind her Aunt Val, Uncle Dean, and numerous cousins including Dale Brown with whom she kept in touch regularly. Jean was predeceased by the Love of her life Mack Cameron, and her parents Gordon Lalonde and Violet Lalonde (Furness). Jean was born on December 16, 1934 in Cornwall, Ontario. She grew up as an only child and for the first five years of her life her father Gordon was away at war overseas, while her mother Violet raised her in Cornwall. Because of this, Jean always wanted to have a big family, and that she did. She attended school at Notre Dame Convent / St. Columban's School and CCVS High School. A cherished school memory for Phys Ed involved a mock 'Olympics' where the students selected countries to represent during track and field competition. Jean won the gold medal for 'Norway' in the 100 yard dash - and she had the medal to prove it! Jean had many friends, including two of her best with whom she kept in touch throughout all her years: Sylvia Daigle and Doreen Hebert. She met her future husband Mack and they soon married in 1954, and started their family in Brockville, Ontario. The family moved to Winnipeg in the 1960s, where their youngest child was born - making a total of four children under the age of six! Jean spent most of her younger life raising their four children, but found time to work as a bookkeeper, supporting Mack through his many business ventures. As the children got older, she and her best friend in Winnipeg, Gail Engel, volunteered by delivering 'Meals on Wheels'. Jean was renowned for her sense of home décor and was the recipient of endless praises from all who visited her home over the years. She passed her preferences for lighting, furniture, and accents on to her children. Her talents extended to fashion wear as well, where even her loungewear seemed elegant. Jean's passions too, were legend: reading (especially mystery novels), humming birds, Hummel figurines, Royal Doulton, Wedgewood, covered bridges, chocolate, peanuts and many others too numerous to mention. But her biggest passion was her family. Family occasions always provided opportunities for her to showcase her baking and cooking skills. Christmases were made memorable by the way she decorated the entire home and her gift-wrapping talents were remarkable with perfectly folded edges and evenly matched turn-ups, garnished with bows and ribbons, and all secured with double-sided tape which was more invisible than invisible tape! Her gift WAS the wrapping as much as the present inside. Jean is missed dearly by her beloved family, and will be forever in their hearts and memories. Many thanks to the doctors, nurses and caregivers at the Grace and Health Sciences Hospitals for their attentive compassion. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has already taken place. There will be a memorial service at at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 18, 2017 at Green Acres Funeral Home, Highway 1 East at Navin Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba with interment at Green Acres Cemetery. Reception to follow. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery (204) 222-3241 Condolences may be sent to www.greenacresfuneralhome.com
