MAURICE STAPLES Peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital on Monday, November 27, 2017, Maurice Staples passed away at the age of 92 years. He was predeceased by his parents; his granddaughter Catherine Stornel, and his siblings, Roland and Betty. Maurice will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years Freda; his daughters, Sheelagh and Sandra (Reneé); his grandson Clifford (Alex) and her children; his brother Denis as well as many nieces and nephews in England. Maurice and Freda married in 1951. They sacrificed their life in England to relocate their young family to Canada in 1957. Maurice and Freda were proud to have raised their girls while working opposite shifts to take care of them. Working at Manitoba Hydro, Maurice kept in contact with the crew well into his retirement years. He kept busy with his bowling at Dakota Lanes and golfing the links at the St. Boniface Golf Course. He enjoyed watching his favorite Winnipeg teams, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Winnipeg Jets whenever they were playing. The family would like to thank Dr. Penner at St. Boniface Hospital and Dr. Young at the Victoria Hospital as well as the entire staff at both locations for all their care and compassion given to our Dad. At Maurice's request, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. As Maurice loved to donate and help others, the family asks for all donations be made to a charity of one's choice in Maurice's name in lieu of flowers. "Dad, you taught us to love unconditionally and we will carry on your legacy. You were a fantastic Dad and we were so lucky to have you - We will never forget you. We are going to miss you so much, until we meet again." Desjardins 204-233-4949 1-888-233-4949 www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I only met Maurice once when he visited my granparents' house in Norton. He told me a little about Canada and gave me a Silver Dollar which I still have. - Posted by: Martin Barker (Second cousin) on: Feb 19, 2019

  • I remember Maurice as being a very genuine man. Soft spoken, always a smile and never a critical word about anyone. Though I hadn't seen Maurice in many years, I always remembered him and will continue to do so. Save us a place in Heaven, Maurice as we all know you made it there. - Posted by: Gay Sutton (Co-worker at Manitoba Hydro) on: Dec 07, 2017

  • I am so sorry to read about the passing of Maurice . Carlo Macario (Calgary) - Posted by: Carlo Macario () on: Dec 02, 2017
