JOHN FEDAK July 8, 1923 - November 25, 2017 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Fedak, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend at the Golden Links Lodge. John was predeceased by his loving wife of 72 years, Henriette, this past May. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Alex, Mike, and his sister Mary. Left to survive are his two sons, Brian (Debbie) Fedak and Gordon (Shirley) Fedack; grandson Johnathon Fedack (Pam) and four great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Georgia, Allison and Savanah. John is also survived by his siblings, Steve, Fred, Metro, Pete, Doris, Ann and Adeline. Dad was born in 1923 on a farm in Libau, MB and coming from a large family you can only imagine the many challenges at the time. He lived in Selkirk, MB for several years and then moved to Winnipeg where he met his wife-to-be. They married in 1945 at the Saint-Boniface Cathedral and lived in Saint-Boniface for several years. They bought their second home on Bank Ave. in 1952 and lived there until February 2016. Dad worked at Canada Packers for 26 years as a senior butcher. He was the only one with ambidextrous skills to allow him to cut the meat either left or right handed. He then decided to set up his own painting and decorating business, True View Decorating that was successful for more than two decades. John loved to travel mainly by car and covered many of the US states and all of Canada. He sponsored a senior men's hockey team and was the assistant coach. The team was as successful as his company winning 10 of 14 championships. His passion was his family and his company. We will always remember John's generosity to go above and beyond the call of duty to help out anyone in need. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of the Golden Links Lodge for their care and compassion. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. with viewing beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday, December 5 at Christ the King Parish, 847 St. Mary's Road. A private family interment will take place at a later date at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. Desjardins 204-233-4949 1-888-233-4949 www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • We are so sorry to learn of John’s passing. John (we called him Johnny) painted the inside of our entire house many years ago, and was an absolute joy to work with. He spent many days with us while working on our home and we grew to enjoy the stories he told. He was a hard worker and became someone we called a good friend. Our sincere condolences to the family. • Brian and Gordon I am so sorry to hear your Dad has passed away and so soon after your Mom. But they are together again. I'm sorry to have missed the funeral but I only found out about your loss this morning from Marg Flood, by e-mail. We just returned from a holiday in Cuba, late last night. I would have been there for you both had I been able to. Pat Brisebois - Posted by: Pat [Grabowiecki] Brisebois (riend) on: Dec 05, 2017

  • John and Henri were long time customers that I really enjoyed serving. First at Red River Coop on St Anne's then when I moved to Harvest Bakery. John was a kind man who loved to make people laugh. He and his wife were without a doubt my favorite couple. The love they shared could be seen by everyone. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. My thoughts are with his family. - Posted by: Tina Scowen (Friend) on: Dec 02, 2017
