CHARLES (CHARLIE) EICHKORN
Date of Passing: Dec 05, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES (CHARLIE) EICHKORN It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Charles Eichkorn on December 5, 2017 at the age of 86. Charlie leaves to cherish with so many wonderful memories, his loving wife of 56 years, Christine (Chris); children, Nancy (Stephen), Carolyn and Geoff (Kerri); grandchildren, Ryan, Stephanie, Grace and Scott; brother Herb; as well as many relatives and friends. Dad was a wonderful kind man, with a heart of gold. Quiet and soft-spoken, he knew just what to say and when to say it. His dry sense of humour was a welcome reprieve when things got tough and his firm but gentle hand guided our family in a very special way. He gave new meaning to the definition of a 'good man' We can only hope to aspire to be as wise, loyal, honest and devoted as our dad has been. He left this world a better place, for all who knew him. Dad knew a lot about a lot of things and was a great conversationalist, though he preferred the one-on-one, to being the centre of attention. Our home was always open and welcoming to family and friends, exchange students from all over the world and anyone else who needed a warm landing pad. Mom and dad took great pride in their pristine yard and even greater pride in the accomplishments of their children. We were truly blessed to have such an amazing husband and father. While dad struggled with more health challenges and pain than many will ever know, he was never one to complain. We, as his family, find comfort in knowing that he is no longer in pain and that his soul is in a better place. We now have another very special angel looking over us. Our family would like to thank all of those who have provided care to our dad over the past many years. We owe much gratitude to the wonderful doctors and caregivers at Family Medical Centre, especially Michelle who was always there at the other end of the phone when we needed help. Please join us in remembering our dad on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church, 105 Little Britain Road (at PTH #9) in Lockport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen, Box 123, Selkirk, Manitoba, R1A 2B1. Condolences may be left at: www.gilbartfuneralhome.com Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.

Dear Chris; We were also quite saddened to hear of Charlie's passing but know he is in a better place with the Lord. He was indeed a thoughtful person and we enjoyed talks with him especially his stories of working on the boats at Nanaimo in the area we now live. You were good neighbours to us in our many years in Lockport and the world needs more people like you and Charlie. He will not be forgotten. We will say prayers for him and for you at this difficult time. - Posted by: Elaine and Brian HARTWIG (Friends) on: Dec 09, 2017
