CORNELIA THOMASCHEWSKI
Born: Jan 01, 1934
Date of Passing: Dec 08, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCORNELIA THOMASCHEWSKI It is with much sadness that our family announces the passing of Cornelia Thomaschewski (Prevost), on Friday, December 8, 2017, at the age of 83. She was predeceased by her siblings, Iona (Bob), Raymond (Anne), Roy (Mary), Eddy (Bea); and in-laws, Mary (George) and Frances. Cordy was born in Winnipeg on January 1, 1934 and resided for much of her childhood on Spence Street with her sister Iona, whom she loved dearly. While attending St. Mary's Academy, Cordy became friends with Frances, who introduced her to her brother, Anton, and her sister Mary. Mary and Cordy became lifelong best friends while Anton and Cordy fell in love and were married on July 27, 1957. They had a wonderful life together raising their family on their farm in Headingley. Many incredible neighbours surrounded them over the years. Anton and Cordy enjoyed square dancing, bowling, playing cards, volunteering as 4H club leaders, and being members of the St. Charles Church community. The family enjoyed many fun road trips to Grand Beach, BC, Alberta, Ontario (Waldhof, Kenora, Dryden, Toronto), and California to visit family and friends. Cordy had a gentle and generous spirit. She enjoyed many activities including crocheting, baking, singing in the church choir, gardening, games, puzzles, movies and of course, spending time with family. Leaving to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 60 years, Anton; her children, Gloria (Wayne), Joe (Kim), Marie (Glenn), and Irene (Ken); her grandchildren, Colin (Samantha), Jenna (Kellen), Kaitlyn (Brodie), Jesse, Eric, Melissa, Tyler, Josh and Kyle; and great-grandchildren, Brynlee and Harper; and in-laws, Chris, Frank (Pat) and many other relatives and friends. Thank you for teaching us the value of family, kindness, and compassion for others. You were a great and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. You were our angel on earth and are now our angel in heaven. Many thanks to her physician, Dr. Albak, Comforts of Home and the staff at West Park Manor, who helped care for her this past year, and to the staff at Riverview, who helped us find peace in her final days. Cordy's Celebration of Life will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home located at 4000 Portage Ave. on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 1:30 p.m., with a viewing prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Cordy gifted many hand-made crocheted blankets over the years. If you have one, please bring to the service as we'd like to display them on the pews. In lieu of flowers, donations to Diabetes Canada, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or St. Charles Parish would be appreciated. Our deepest condolences to Anton and family, Cordy was a wonderful human being who was more of a sister to me than an aunt. She was there for me when nobody else seemed to be. She was a great influence in my life. My guardian angel. I spent many a weekend on the farm clearing the fields, it was very hard work but the fond memories will always be with me. Cordy was always cooking but she always made room for you at the table. You will be missed. - Posted by: Jeff & Sheila Prevost (Nephew ( son of Raymond)) on: Dec 15, 2017
