Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHERBERT ALEXANDER IRVING (a.k.a. LAMONTE HATCHER) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Herbert Alexander Irving (a.k.a. Lamonte Hatcher), who died on December 9, 2017. Herbert was born on April 28, 1941 in Mandeville, Jamaica. In 1968, he immigrated to Winnipeg, where he met his soon-to-be wife Monica a year later, and who was also from Jamaica. Herbert worked as a welder (Local 254) throughout Canada for several years while raising his children alongside his wife. Herbert was a person who enjoyed being in the company of other people. As he aged, he became even more personable, and we will miss his infectious laugh and hundred candle watt smile. Herbert was predeceased by his sons, Rowan and Godfrey Irving, as well as his wife Monica Irving, as well as a number of his siblings. He is survived by his children, Dionne, Charlene, Kara, Nathalie, Amanda, Mark, and his two sons, Easton Kelly and Hugh Grant. In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren: Jordan, Jordana, Aaliyah, Tattyanna, Quenton and Tavayent. He is also survived by his great-granddaughter Naomi. Herbert is also survived by his sisters, Zelma, Lynette and Clarice, as well as his brother Hector, niece Norma and several other nieces and nephews. A funeral service in memory of Herbert will be held on Monday, December 18, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with Reverend Henry Falconer officiating. Final interment will take place in Jamaica. Those who wish to make memorial donations in memory of Herbert, may do so to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Special thanks to the staff at the Grace Hospital and Poseidon Seniors' Home for their empathic, supportive, comfortable and gentle care that they provided to Herbert. Dear Dad, it's been almost 2 years without you, and I am shocked by how swift the time has passed by. I wish you continued peace, loving energy, and while I cannot hug you in person, know that I miss your hugs and infectious laugh. Thank you for teaching me invaluable lessons about life and having the strength to speak up. All my love, Amanda - Posted by: Amanda Goorachurn (Daughter) on: Oct 15, 2019
