Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAMPTHILL BARRY JOHN STEELE November 13, 1914 - December 11, 2017 Monday, December 11, 2017 our father Ampthill Barry John Steele passed peacefully. Dad was the eldest of four children born in Grenada to Joseph and Josephine Steele. Joseph Steele brought his four children to Trinidad and made a home with his family. Dad married our mother and took an enormous step by immigrating to Canada to give his family a better life. Dad came to Canada in April 1970 and in December of 1970, his wife and nine children followed. He worked at Charles McEnearney and Co. Ltd. in Trinidad. After his immigration to Canada, he found work at Grey Goose Bus Lines, where he worked as a Diesel Mechanic until his retirement in 1990 at the age of 76. Dad leaves to mourn his sister Fredrica Tyson (Trinidad); sister-in-law Jessica Downes; brother-in-law Albert Mitchell; his children, Anthony (Janet), Garves, Burton (Pam), McKinley (Lena), Leroy (Sue), Mevlyn, Ingrid (Ray), Vanessa (Jason); 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn are numerous nieces and nephews in Canada, Trinidad and USA Dad was predeceased by his wife Lucille; son Keith; parents and sisters, Eugene and Judith. Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with viewing one hour prior to service at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., West St. Paul, MB. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the Homecare staff and Wound Care nurses who diligently cared for our father. Thank you dad for your vision of a better life for us in Canada and instilling in us a strong work ethic. Rest in peace, we love you!
