DARCIA ZEMIANSKI
Born: Jan 28, 1937
Date of Passing: Dec 20, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDARCIA ZEMIANSKI It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts, the family announces the sudden passing of Darcia Zemianski, on December 20, 2017 at St. Boniface Hospital, with her family by her side. Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Tamara (Paul) Kochanski and Tanya (Cameron) Pow, grandchildren, Paige and Brendan Kochanski and Alicia and Emma Pow, and sister Sonja (Ole) Bejzyk. Darcia, was predeceased by husband of 51 years, Ernest Zemianski, and parents, Nicolas and Mary Mandziuk. Darcia was born January 28, 1937 and raised in Oakburn, MB. Upon graduating high school, Darcia moved to Winnipeg, and graduated from Teacher's College in 1958. Darcia taught elementary school in the River East School Division, for 31 years; the majority of it at Princess Margaret Elementary School. Throughout her tenure, she made many long life friends, and was an inspiration to many young students. It was an immense source of pride for her to run into past students, many remembering her as one of their favourite teachers; always commenting how she looked exactly the same as when she taught them. Darcia officially retired from teaching in 1994, looking forward to retirement with Ernest. Retirement started a new chapter for both Mom and Dad, and life centered around the family cottage at Lac Du Bonnet. We cherish the memories spending weekends with family and friends at the cottage. Mom was always the hub and center of the cottage, and it encompassed all of her loves, especially cooking and planning the weekend menus, doting on her grandchildren, her pride and joy, and surrounding herself with family. Ever the competitor, she was the first to organize a weekend cribbage tournament, and the last to call it a night after a late night of poker, often ending well into the wee hours. When not at the lake, Mom loved cultivating her large garden, and we were always the recipients of her bountiful harvest, and her famous dill pickles! Winters were spent on an annual family vacation, and Mom only had a couple of requirements - it had to be sunny and the whole family had to go, and she especially enjoyed spending the vacation time with her grandchildren. Lucky enough to have met and marry her soulmate, Ernie, they enjoyed 51 years of marriage; it was difficult for Mom after his passing in 2011. She approached it with strength and courage, living each day to the fullest. It is a sense of gratitude to know they are together again. Mom will be greatly missed and always in our hearts. We were truly blessed to have her in our lives for as long as we did. She touched everyone she met, evidenced by friends both old and new. We will cherish our memories, please know you will be missed, but never forgotten. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. Interment and reception to follow. Officiating clergy V. Rev. E. Maximiuk. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations in Darcia's memory may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L0K6. Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery 204-338-7111

Len and Darcy grew up together in Oakburn and I was privileged to meet Darcy when Len and I married over 50 years ago. We often ran into each other on Darcy's many shopping excursions around the EK area. It was always a pleasure to chat with her. We hope for all of you, her family, peace will come early and your reflections of the wonderful woman she was, will bring a smile to your faces, and a warmth in your hearts. - Posted by: Len and Vicki Lazaruk (Oakburnite) on: Dec 26, 2017

Darcy and I worked at Princess Margaret School for many years. I also taught her daughter at Princess Margaret. I have fond memories of our lunch time chats and laughs at PMS. She was such a professional throughout her teaching career and had a great love for her students at PMS. Please accept my sincerest sympathies for your loss. May she rest in peaceđź’• - Posted by: Valerie McDougall (Teacher / friend) on: Dec 24, 2017

I am so sorry to hear of Darcy's passing. I knew her in Oakburn where we grew up. She was several years ahead of me in school but Darcy was always polite and acknowledged me. I remember her as a fashionista - she wore clothes beautifully. The last time I spoke with Darcy was at the Oakburn Reunion in 2000. Lovely graceful lady. May she rest in peace. - Posted by: Sonja Topolinsky (Oakburnite) on: Dec 24, 2017
