Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySR. THÉRÈSE PAQUIN s.g.m. Peacefully, surrounded by the love of her Grey Nuns companions, Sr. Thérèse Paquin was welcomed into the arms of God on Tuesday, December 26, 2017. She leaves to mourn her religious community, the Grey Nuns, her caring niece Mary, many nephews, nieces and friends. Born November 8, 1918 in Lebret, SK to Albert Paquin and Laura Paradis, Sr. Thérèse was fourth in a family of 12. At an early age, she was called to help in whatever way she could. Money was scarce in the Paquin household during the Saskatchewan drought and for three years, Thérèse worked at the Oblates of Mary Immaculate's Scholasticate, to help her parents cope with financial burdens. It was there that she felt called to become a religious. On February 13, 1942, Sr. Paquin entered the Grey Nuns Congregation in St. Boniface, and made her vows in 1944. After her profession, she accepted to serve wherever she was called. Her sisters have fond memories of the delicious meals that she prepared in the many places she worked: Taché Centre, St. Boniface Hospital, Fort Frances, Grey Nuns' Provincial House, Assiniboia, Chesterfield, Lebret, SK and St. Michael, North Dakota. In 1986, she was missioned back to Saskatchewan in Gravelbourg, where for the next 11 years, she served in the hospital and personal care home as pastoral care worker. The people she served loved her contagious smile, her humor and her gracious simplicity. When Sr. Paquin was called back to St. Boniface in 1997, she brought along her joy and kind spirit. She remained a true daughter of Marguerite d'Youville, always ready to put on her apron and be "hands for the needy". In January, 2011 as her health was failing she moved to Actionmarguerite where she spent the last six years of her life with her ailing companions. The Grey Nuns and the family wish to thank the 3DE staff at Actionmarguerite for the devoted care they provided to Sr. Thérèse, and for all those who brought joy into her life. Funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Edmond Paradis, o.m.i. at Résidence Despins, 151 Despins St. on Saturday, December 30 at 1:30 p.m. preceded by viewing at 1:00 p.m. Desjardins 204-233-4949 1-888-233-4949 www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca
